I have full technical responsibility for the
activities conducted at the laboratory department to provide prompt, accurate
and quality laboratory skills, and use a variety of technical and analytical skills
to perform and evaluate all types of laboratory testing to aid the physician in
the diagnosis and monitoring of patients .
Exhibit service excellence as required by the accreditation bodies of the
laboratory.
Oversees and monitor flow of work and work in progress to ensure that
standard operating procedures and safety precautions are followed, and gives
direction when problems arise.
Assist Chief Technologist in orienting, training of new staff
Promote and enhance test procedures and quality improvement.
Share in policies and procedures, quality assurance/control program, safety,
infection control and environment standard in the performance of specimen
testing
Monitor supply levels and take action if requests for supply or replacement
supply is needed.
Follows all procedures and policies and demonstrates competency and
proficiency as required.
Runs, documents and analyze quality control tests, as per Department policy (when
appropriate).
Use the laboratory information system in superior level
Collect data and statistics needed in the quality improvement plan for the laboratory as
per chief technologist and quality control supervisor instructions.
Utilizes available resources to maintain and fix instruments or problem solving
issues.
Cleans equipment and working areas as per infection control policies and
manufacture recommendation.
Attends team meetings, and effectively orients new staff as requested.
Participate in the CME program for the laboratory.
Maintains confidentiality of matters relating to patients.
Maintains the chain of command based on established policies and procedures
Contributes to the safety of patients and staff by being cognizant of potential hazards
and reporting concerns or malfunctioning equipment to the chief technologist.
Works cooperatively with team members to identify and complete laboratory
administrative responsibilities and meet department goals.
Participates in hospital/department activities to improve patient care/lab
systems.
Participate in the maintenance of appropriate accreditation by regulatory
agencies. Shares new information with all team members.
