-- Debriefed scholars on military/civilian war trauma in low-intensity conflicts in Africa, Middle East, Asia.

South Korean Armed Forces, Techno Valley, South Korea. (From April of 2008 through June of 2010)

-- Designed and delivered a specialized English language curriculum for high-level Korean military officers up to the rank of General. I also hired bi-lingual Koreans to assist this training.
-- Personally trained elite KATUSA linguists posted with the American garrison at the DMZ facing North Korea. They are the key translators between the U.S. and ROK Armed Forces.
-- Analyzed the military culture of South Korea's Armed Forces.
-- Made infrastructure assessments for e-learning and Instructor-led Training.
-- Proposed and developed synchronous and asynchronous interactive delivery methods for the instruction. Created prototype learning portals, hyper-links, screen camera tutorials transferred to Adobe Flash Point from PowerPoint to achieve all military/linguistic training objectives.
-- Made assessments of student proficiencies, multiple intelligences and how to bridge performance gaps.
-- Developed appropriate cross-cultural training methodologies, learning objectives and course content.

-- On September 12, 2013, National Geographic, via Cengage Learning, asked to purchase the world, all media, English (plus three other languages) and derivatives rights to one of my photographs. On March 4, 2014, the purchase of this photograph was finally approved. It will appear in a National Geographic publication in 2015 and will be featured in various languages including Chinese, Arabic, Spanish and Portuguese.

Radio, TV and Book Projects

-- Guest on the Jim Bohanan National Radio Show along with Senator John McCain of Arizona. We examined North Korea’s Special Forces training and deployment, ballistic missile program, nuclear capability, allies, “juche” or “self-reliance, ” worldview, language, culture and history.
-- Produced, directed and hosted a 40 minute TV journalism adventure show filmed in Guatemala. This project was a bid for the pilot of “The Quest” on the Discovery Channel.
-- Radio reporter for e-FM 101.3 in Seoul, South Korea. (Please see TBSeFM.seoul.kr).
-- Appeared in a definitive Korean documentary about United Nations Secretary General Ban Ki Moon.

I was selected to deliver a series of private lectures to visiting delegates from the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Education. The focus of these lectures addressed both the positive and negative trends in American Higher Education. The topics included the following:

-- The United States’ Higher Education “people-oriented” management philosophy.
-- Teachers and student management.
-- Faculty evaluation methods including academic summary reports.
-- Incentives for teaching performance.
-- Professional ethics education, ethics incentive systems and moral education.

-- A two-tier division of labor in which some professors only lecture, while others only write and research.
-- Discarding the outdated belief system that paper books and libraries constitute the “best” university.

-- Removing the archetype Soviet-style bureaucracy and establishing local and regional control.
-- Mixing the very best leadership strategies from Western and other Asian nations with Confucianism.

In a world of smartphones, wearable computers, and Augmented Reality, the role of a digital artist is more important than ever. Not only is there an insatiable appetite for new content, but the skills demanded from a designer, story-teller and artist to create that content has extended far beyond traditional skill-sets. ITU’s Digital Arts (DA) program integrates design fundamentals, professional skills and entrepreneurial innovation into a unique program tailored to the modern artist who dares create their own vision of the future.

In this modern digital age, the basic principles of photography have not changed. Yet the tools and techniques of how we arrive at our final image continue to evolve. This class will introduce students to the principles of photography and then explore the tools and aesthetics employed by professionals and amateurs alike to alter or enhance their images.

Course Description:

A multidisciplinary “Big History” course which traces the development of multinational corporations since the Middle Ages, transnational and supranational institutions, micro-state and non-state actors, transnational drug trade, international finance, derivatives, credit default swaps, currency manipulation and commodity speculation, gold, mercenaries, oil, gas, fresh water, Rare Earth Metals, human migration, illegal trafficking and DNA-related issues of futuristic science such as Genetics, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence and Nanotechnology, space-based defense and colonization, diplomacy, new alliances such as BRIC as well as peacemaking. A heavy emphasis is placed on Ancient Rome, Crassus, Marco Polo, the Age of Exploration, the British Empire, American Revolutionary War, Africa, the Middle East, Afghanistan and China. Advances in transportation, medicine, science, communication in direct relation to the heightened arc of human complexity are deconstructed and analyzed in their Ancient, Medieval and Modern contexts.

-- Directed all major video projects for the University Relations Department. Directed the initial fundraising video for the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library at Texas A&M. The video aired on CNN in July, 1993.

-- Directed counter-cheating (for examinations) and counter-plagiarism project at Baylor University.
-- Worked for the South African Star as a journalist during my six month overseas internship.

I was offered the position of Senior Training and Development Specialist with Raytheon.
-- I was asked to design linguistic training materials for the Afghanistan National Armed Forces.

European Naval Task Force, Djibouti and Somalia. (2011)

-- I was asked to design a counter-piracy program to be used in Djibouti and off the coast of Somalia.
-- One operational tactic was the creation of specially-fitted airborne vehicles that can spoof cellphone towers and intercept communications amongst the pirates.

This was a single semester, temporary appointment ).

-- Taught MCM 10. Writing and Reporting News. (Fundamentals of Journalism from A to Z, laboratory).
-- Taught MCM 112. Feature Writing. (Research, style, serialization, human drama and dignity, USA Today).
-- Taught COM 101. Oral Communication. (Messages, cross-cultural barriers, speeches, non-verbal cues).
-- Advised the campus newspaper, The Forum. Student articles included GE/GM foods at Monsanto, the Gateway Arch, combat medical training for U.S. military doctors and Boeing’s fighter jet production.
-- Organized and led curriculum development, testing and grading for all of the courses I taught.
-- Sole oversight authority for a budget of US$ 20, 000 needed for purchasing items such as laptops, software and office infrastructure. I saved the department US$ 5, 000 for the term.
