• Lead a team of engineers & advisors providing occupational health, process safety, construction safety, and safety management services covering 34 chemical process plants, 45 buildings, residential compound and more than 3000 employees.
• Lead Company efforts in devising corporate HSE strategies and HSE business plan. During my tenure as Safety Manager, the Company achieved record low Total Recordable Injury Rate
• Led the HSE management of the 2022 Petrochemical II Plants Turnaround which was completed safely with Zero recordable injuries with more than 12000 workers involved.
• Develop Company HSE policies & regulations and maintain Company Safety Management System
• Oversee internal & external audits to ensure compliance with international & local standards such as ISO 45001 and HCIS-SAF.
• Serve as Secretary of Petro Rabigh HSSE Steering Committee which monitors & directs HSSE efforts across the organization. The Committee is led by P&CEO and reports to Company Board.
• Serve as a member in Petro Rabigh Sustainability Steering Committee and contribute to the development of strategies & actions to meet ESG targets.
• Review and approve allocation of lands for new projects & development within Company premise as part of Land Use Planning to ensure compliance with HSE requirement.
• Support Maintenance Departments and Project Management Team in the development and execution of safety programs aiming at improving Contractors Safety Performance.
• Ensure alignment of Company safety and occupational health standards & practices with regulatory requirement set by HCIS and Ministry of Labor.
• Serve as a voting member in the Company Project Steering Committee which is responsible for reviewing, challenging, and approving capital projects.

Lead and direct a team of process safety engineers responsible for reviewing engineering design packages and project technical specifications, conducting process hazard analysis, HAZOPS, & risk assessments, providing engineering code consultation & advice, providing day to day field safety supervision to company operations, and participating in special engineering studies. Some of the key contributions are

Reviewed Rabigh II (6 Billion $ joint project between Saudi Aramco and Sumitomo Chemicals which consists of 17 petrochemical and utility plants). Project design philosophies. This includes; passive and active fire protection, emergency preparedness, emergency isolation & depressurization, draining, fire & gas detection, …etc

Reviewed front end engineering designs and detailed engineering designs for the Rabigh II Project against project specifications and company codes and standards. This includes both process plants and buildings such as new control rooms, fire station, main administrative building, …etc.

Reviewed Land Use Permits for new process plants/ buildings and conducted required risk assessments and code compliance checks.

Participated in HAZOPs and 3D Review sessions for Rabigh II Project. I also lead and participated in Process Hazard Analyses for existing process plants.

Technical expertise (interpretation and application) of local and international fire and safety engineering codes and standards including; HCIS-SAF, Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards, NFPA, IBC, IFC, and API.

Facilitating and coordinating Quantitative Risk Assessments for new process plants and buildings including; Rabigh II Plants & Buildings, New Ethylene Oxide Project, upgrade of control room, and new LPG Spheres

Participated in process safety survey and walkthroughs such; fireproofing survey, firewater pumps performance, equipment isolation audit, Emergency Shutdown System audit, oily water drainage, …etc

Participated in pre-insurance and insurance surveys in 2010 & 2011. Supported process plant proponents in closing insurance items by proposing acceptable alternative and cost effective solutions.

Provided day to day support to process plants including; conducting work permit audits, reviewing MOCs and Engineering Work Orders, reviewing critical equipment testing waivers, …etc

Development of Health, Safety, and Environment Risk Assessment Standard

Participated in the testing and commissioning of fire protection systems for new petrochemical process plants including Ethane Cracker, HDPE, HOFCC, and Tank Farm.

Participated in the development of the company Corporate Safety Management System based on the ISO 9001 and OHSAS 18001.

My primary role with Saudi Aramco was to review fire protection plans and designs for new projects from the scope development phase to the issuance of construction packages. This is followed by participation in the testing and commissioning of these systems. I have also participated in special fire protection and life safety studies. Some of my key contributions include;

Team Leader of the Fire Protection Department Project Commissioning Team at Khurais Oil Processing Facility Project (March-June 2008). The team handled fire alarm & detection systems of new substations, NOVEC 1230 system design review for new communication bldg., testing of foam system at crude oil tanks, and commissioning of air strip fire station.

Reviewed the fire protection designs for King Abdulaziz Cultural Center Bldg, 30% designs of Manifa Oil Field Development Project, Upgrade of Western Region Bulk Plants, Upgrade of Riyadh Refinery Substations, Upgrade of Armaco Medical Center at Al-Hasa, …etc.

Participated in the testing and commissioning of fire protection systems for various facilities including; firewater pumps at Qatif Gas Oil Separation Plants, Fire Alarm & Detection System at Dhahran R&D Building, FM-200 Suppression System at Abqaiq Plants, Firewater System at Haradh Gas Oil Separation Plants, …etc.

Conducted special studies on life safety and egress analysis for Aramco Main Administration Building (Tower Bldg) and other buildings based on IBC and NFPA 101 requirements. Utilized EVACNET software during these studies.

Beside my role as a fire protection engineer, I took one year assignment in fire protection operations and training. My activities during this assignment include;

Worked as a fire station shift supervisor (September-December 2006) at Uthmaniyah Gas Plant. Managing and leading shift crew
responding to emergencies at the Gas Plant and nearby oil rigs

Delivered fire protection training to firefighters and technicians in Aramco’s Advanced Fire Training Center.
