• Responsible for the reliability, availability and maintenance of NPCC 16 offshore construction vessels which includes heavy lift ships, self-elevating platforms (jack up's), derrick barges, pipe-lay barges and launching barges.
• Responsible for the repair, maintenance and safe & proper operations of all offshore construction equipment onboard construction vessels which includes pipe and cable lay systems (tensioners, A/R winches, carousels and under-rollers) heavy lift offshore cranes, barge jacking systems, spread mooring winches, pile top drilling units, hydro-hammers, internal lifting tools, grouting pumps, shore pull linear winches and others.
• Manage the full scope of acquisitions, installations, upgrades, modifications and integration activities for new construction equipment and systems, ensuring that defined standards are met and targets achieved, or exceeded, within approved budget limits. Major/latest acquisition included a 7, 000 ton carousel for cable laying, offshore pedestal crane, cable lay tensioners and a 350 ton under-roller.
• Preparation of dry-docking budgets, dry-docking specifications, technical assessment of the bids and management of the dry-docking & repairs projects at 3rd party shipyard facilities.
• Plan and execute life extension programs, condition assessment programs, conversion projects to meet the operational demands in compliance with the requirements of charterers, flag and class.
• Responsible for regulatory compliance on vessels including class & client requirements (ABS, ADNOC, ARAMCO and ONGC).
• Provides technical supports for the operational activities.
• Provides technical supports for the new-building projects.
• Responsible for thoroughly investigating recurring breakdowns of repetitive nature to major/critical mechanical equipment and installations, and recommending & implementing safe and cost-effective measures to avoid recurrence.
• Responsible for yearly capital and operational expenditure, ensuring that adequate provision is made for the funding of all activities and the delivery of all targets/objectives within approved budgetary frameworks.
• Ensuring compliance with safety, quality and technical engineering standards related to vessels, equipment and systems.
• Lead and promote technical development and implementation of best practice across all equipment/systems and work processes.
• Plan, coordinate and execute maintenance of assigned construction vessels and their systems & equipment.
• Develop and review technical specification for the purchase of major offshore equipment and systems, evaluating offers and submitting final recommendations to management (major equipment purchased includes hydro-hammers, pile top drilling units, grouting/cementing units and others).
• Preparing scope of work for dry docking and attending the vessel in ship repair yard to ensure that all necessary repairs are satisfactorily completed within approved budget.
• Provide expert technical and operational support for offshore projects relating to specialized construction equipment and offshore cranes.
• Development & review of work plans, and supervision of Asset Integrity crews involved in new installation & commissioning, repair & maintenance, upgrading and modification activities of all equipment & systems aboard the company's vessels.
• Lead/Participate in construction supervision teams for new built self-elevating platforms (NPCC SEP-450 and 550) and floating construction vessels (DLS-4200) in UAE and China.
• Managing a team of engineers, supervisors and technicians for the maintenance and repair of cranes and personnel lifting equipment. Fleet included Liebherr and Demag all terrain cranes, Kobelco crawler cranes, Tadano rough terrain cranes and JLG access platforms.
• Provide technical data, prices, comparisons and submit recommendations for procurement of new cranes and personnel lifting equipment.
• Plan and manage modifications and upgrades of cranes and access platforms.
• Designing, studying and implementing lifting plans for clients including crane selection, lift categorization, rigging gear selection and preparing lifting method statement.
• Managing the day to day operations of cranes and personnel lifting equipment on different job sites.
• Establishing the company's requirements of spare parts and maintaining a minimum stock to maintain un-interrupted operations.
• Ensuring proper and safe transport, assembly and disassembly of all terrain, rough terrain & crawler cranes and access platforms.
• Wire rope selection, Inspection and discarding as per manufacturer and international standards (ISO 4309).
* Working with a team of engineers, supervisors and technicians for the maintenance, and repair of earth moving equipment, trucks, cranes and hydraulic modular trailers.
* Prepare and revise the maintenance charts of equipment as per manufacturers’ standards & specifications.
* Follow up major and minor repairs, and maintenance of earth moving equipment, stationary equipment, trucks, cranes and other assets at minimal cost.
* Trouble shoot Hydraulic and Pneumatic systems defects
* Trouble shoot Engine, and Transmission systems defects
* Trouble shoot LMI systems of different cranes manufacturers such as: LIEBHERR LMI system (LICCON), GROVE LMI system (EKS 3, 4 & 5, and ECOS), DEMAG LMI system (PAT)
* Wire rope selection, Inspection and discarding as per manufacturer and international standards (ISO 4309)
* Inspection of mobile cranes, crawler cranes and rigging accessories as per international standards (BS 7121 Part2, BS EN 13414-1:2003, BS EN13889:2003, B30.9, B30.26)
* Provide technical data, prices, comparisons and submit recommendations for procurement of new and used equipment.
* Studying, planning, analyzing & solving all equipment related problems on daily basis to avoid any delay of work and productivity
* Handling day to day operations of equipment and cranes on oil & gas, and petrochemical job sites
* Supervise Assembly and Disassembly of crawler cranes as per manufacture procedures and recommendations
* Ensure all maintenance procedures are being carried out in a safe, orderly, timely, and economical manner
* Maintaining a minimum stock of spare parts required for operations
* Carry out and follow up major and minor repairs of equipment, such as: mobile cranes, earth movers, and air compressors
