Commissioning a new Emergency Department (Al Qassimi) for the Ministry of Health (UAE)
Secondment position commissioning a new department in the Outpatient setting encompassing Internal Medicine, rheumatology, endocrine, neurology and pulmonology. A part of Hamad General Hospital, a 603 bed hospital.
Responsible for the administration and clinical aspects of the internal medicine clinic. Worked with medical staff to develop and implement agreed patient care protocols in the outpatient setting. Worked with nursing and medical leaders to ensure that care provided was performed in accordance with established corporate and hospital policies as well as Joint Commission International standards. Performed "Needs analysis" for nursing staff. Arranged weekly education sessions for all staff
Designed and implemented guidelines, tools and process required for clinical documentation process to ensure compliance to both policies and JCI Standards for both physicians and nurses' documentation. Provided education sessions to Physicians, nurses and other allied health care professionals. Reviewed the medical record for incomplete, ambiguous or conflicting information to help ensure that the medical record accurately captured the patient’s condition, ensuring that the severity of illness and risk of mortality was maximized for the patient.
