Lead security professional at a large scale, world leading manufacturer of high quality specialist steel components, supplying a range of international corporate and defence sector clients. Responsible for all aspects of corporate and operational security, across three large scale manufacturing sites in the UK and at satellite offices overseas. Subject matter expert for corporate and UK/US government military security issues. Act as Security Controller for defence contract work and oversee the government security clearance (vetting) process. Responsible for management of a large security team, including guarding personnel, vetting officer, IT security officer and export compliance officer. Oversee security compliance procedures at a number of subcontracting companies and liaise on a routine basis with security professionals in the UK MOD, US DOD and leading UK defence contractors in respect of security compliance issues. Liaise with UK police in respect of CT issues.
Lead security professional at an 840 acre Technology Park, housing advanced transportation research & development, test and certification facilities for leading international vehicle and automotive component manufacturers and defence sector companies. Responsible for all aspects of “high security” service provision throughout the Technology Park. Subject matter expert for corporate and UK government military security issues.and for oversight of the government security clearance (vetting) process. Designated Security Controller & Crypto Custodian for HMG classified defence assets and Section 5 Firearms controller. Responsible for developing and maintaining Business Continuity plans and nominated as Incident Controller for emergency incidents on site. Routinely liaise with a range of external stakeholders in respect of military security compliance issues and with Police or other government agencies in respect of CT and Critical National Infrastructure issues.
Regional security lead, responsible for delivery of security protection to British Embassy, DFID and British Council premises and Diplomatic Service personnel based overseas (multiple countries & regions). Responsible for all aspects of physical, personnel and electronic security protection at diplomatic and other UK government agency premises. Provided personal security advice for government employees, family members and visitors, including all aspects of residential and travel security. Responsible for developing and maintaining effective crisis management contingency plans and for managing emergency incidents. Required to liaise effectively with security professionals from “Partners Across Government”, host state agencies and commercial organisations on all issues affecting the security of premises and people based in the host county(ies). Required to travel extensively within the operational area, conducting security audits and delivering security advice. Extensive experience of operating effectively in challenging working environments, including locations designated as being “high risk” or “conflict” countries. Responsible for safe evacuation of British Embassy staff from Syria in 2012.
Responsible for developing (from new build) and overseeing all aspects of the security and health & safety functions at a 250 hectare sport and leisure complex, which was comprised of international standard indoor and open air sports stadiums, aquatic sports venues, an orthopaedic hospital, hotels and an extensive leisure parkland complex. Individual venues were “host” to numerous international sporting events and the outdoor leisure parkland was extensively used by members of the general public. Responsible for management of a large security and safety team, including guarding personnel, H&S professionals, event marshals and administrative staff. Successfully project managed all security implications surrounding the hosting of the 15th Asian Olympic Games in December 2006, a world class sporting event, which attracted international attendance.
Project lead for the creation of a comprehensive security guard development and training programme for the Kuwait Government’s state oil company. Developed course content and administrative structure for the delivery of both classroom and workplace OJT (on the job) security training programmes, along with an examination structure to achieve formal and internationally recognised accreditation (BTEC). Responsible for sourcing and recruiting all teaching and administrative staff, thereafter providing leadership, motivation and strategic direction to a 17+ strong security training team, tasked with delivering the course curriculum to 1200+ students per annum. Also provided “ad hoc” consultancy services to the state oil company, relating to industry “best practice” in the delivery of oil & gas facility security protection.
Returned for second overseas contract, upon request from previous employer. Security Operations Officer for a 106km state owned oil and gas “industrial city”. Responsible for oversight of all aspects of operational security, including ongoing recruiting, training and integration of additional staff to expand the Security department, in order to cope with the city’s rapid and significant expansion. Subject Matter Expert for developing the city’s maritime security role further, to enable compliance (and certification) with the introduction of new international legislation for “Port Security” (ISPS code). Devised and implemented an employee security awareness programme and a comprehensive OJT (on job training) security staff training programme. Extensive experience in direct management of extensive security guarding team (168+) operating in challenging working and environmental conditions.
Employed as a Contracts Manager for a leading UK provider of security services. Directly responsible for implementing and maintaining all of the operational systems and procedures involved, in the provision of efficient and effective contract security services to a significant number of “blue chip” client organisations. Responsible for all aspects of contract negotiation, budget control and all associated contract administration tasks. Directly responsible for the recruitment, organisation, supervision, training, discipline and welfare of over 100 security personnel, providing security services at over 16 individual locations.
Employed as the Security Operations Officer for a 106km Industrial City, containing numerous petrochemical industries, substantial business and residential infrastructure (staff accommodation for 12, 000+ workers) and an international maritime port, designated by the state's government as being a strategic "key installation". Directly responsible for the effective provision of all aspects of industrial security within the city, including electronic and physical Access Control, crime prevention & detection, traffic policing, Emergency Response Teams (RTA, fire, etc) and disaster control/recovery Contingency Planning. Directly responsible for the efficient recruitment, training, organisation and supervision of a large and highly mobile Security Team and ancillary support staff.
Provided security advice and "specialist" security services such as Close Protection, Residence Protection, and surveillance duties to a number of private companies, VIP individuals and foreign embassies.
