When HPH started running the concession of the port of Manta-Ecuador I was hired as Finance and Administration Manager. I was responsible of the following departments: Finance, Treasury, Accounting, Costs, IT, Customs Administration, Purchasing and Administration.

Being a new company I was in charge of defining the organization chart of the departments I was responsible for the definition of functions and procedures for each position.

I organized the process for defining the functions and procedures manuals as well as the local internal policies of the company.

I was responsible for preparing the financial reports for the head office in Hong Kong. Reports such as: weekly and monthly cash flows, monthly comparisons between current data vs. budget and forecasts, forecast and budget quarterly reports.

On a monthly basis I sent a detail of explanations regarding the variances when comparing the current data vs. the budget figures and previous year figures.

I was also in charge of negotiating the purchases of the company in coordination with the purchasing department.

I was in charge of the relation with the local finance institutions and coordinated with the head office all aspects related with the external financing. I coordinated also with the head office the international insurances of the fixed assets of the company and the fixed assets received in the concession contract.

The coordination of the legal aspects of the company with Hong Kong was also part of my responsibilities. (corporate, tax, labour)

I created local formats in excel in order to prepare the detailed information required to input in the head office´s financial reports. This helped in order to save a lot of time when preparing the monthly reports and variances explanations.

I coordinated the process for implementing an ABC Cost software in the company for managing the services costs of the port. In order to do this, it was defined the detailed functions of the personnel, it was also defined the activities and drivers as well as the KPI for the control.

I was part of the Quality Directors for implementing the ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and OHSA 18000 in the company. The qualification was performed by Bureau Veritas.

On a quarterly basis I participated with the General Manager of the company presenting to the Board of Directors of HPH the budget and forecast information.
