Instrumentation Design and Engineering Competencies:
* Conversant with technical documentation such as P&ID’s, data sheets, Functional Logic
Diagrams, ESD schematics, Cause & Effect charts, Network Diagrams. Alarm management
philosophies.
* Technical supervision, engineering & quality check for design documents/drawings such as;
technical specifications, sizing calculations, cable routing, instrument location plan/layout,
instrument hook-up, installation details, wiring diagrams, I/O schedule, Instrument schedule,
functional logic diagrams, loop drawings and field instrumentation datasheets such as;
control valves, shutdown valves, motor and pneumatic/hydraulic operated valves, relief
valves, electronic transmitters, fire and gas detectors and various types of local switches and
gauges.
* Participation in safety studies such as HAZOP, SIL, 3D Model Review at Vendor Premises.
* Experience of Reviewing SIL assessment and verification using Meridian software (RIS
system).
* Checking Vendor Bid evaluation, documentations and drawings.
* Liaise with clients to identify project requirements.
* Provide Technical recommendation, Inspection for different type of Instrumentation.
* Expertise in executing projects from Concept-to-Launch with focus on rendering end-to-end
solutions.
* An effective communicator with exceptional analytical, negotiation, relationship management

* Instrument Selection and procurement of Control valves/safety valves, Transmitters etc
based on Industrial and International standards.
* Oversees site work and witness Factory Acceptance Test/ Site Installation Test/ Site
Acceptance Test (FAT/SAT) and resolve technical issues with PMC and contractor teams
related to instrumentation.
* Quality Assurance / Quality Control Competencies:
* Coordinate with projects and planning on time schedules, establish target completion dates.
* Reviewing design, engineering & construction documents like P & ID, Instrument Index,
Specifications, Instrument Layouts, Instrument Hook-ups, Instrument Wiring drawings, Logic
Narrative, Logic Diagrams, Cause & Effect Matrix, Complex Control loops, network
architecture, control system interconnectivity and data Interfaces.
* Witnessing, monitoring and/or inspecting the installation and testing of instrumentation and
controls, as required. Reviewing and approving minor and major NCR (Non Conformity
Report).
* Implementation of QA/QC check lists, Punch list preparation / completion, warranty claims.
* Conducting Internal Audits ensuring compliance to ISO 9000 standards.
* Reviewing Contractor technical documentation (Method of Statement).
* Manage and Control Contractual Subcontractor Statement of Work and other Cross
Business Team subcontract activities.
* Analyze quotations/proposals to perform price/cost analysis techniques.
* Conducts instrumentation and control system audit and checks. Prepare audit report.
* Provide input to proposals. Prepare and check man-hour and material cost estimates.

* Evaluating and assessing the methods, such as PRP (Plant Readiness Program) as a
proactive approach to a flawless commissioning & start-up of the multiple complex
petrochemical plants.
* Ensuring the Integrity of Instrumentation installed in the plant meets all criteria at Mechanical
Completion through Mitigating the Potential flaw sheet, LI (Lead Indicator), QAP (Quality
Assurance Plan), etc.
* Reviewing and Approving MCA (Mechanical Completion Agreement).
* Team Member for performing PSSR (Pre Start-up SHE Review) for the handover Systems.
* Assessing / recommending the potential flaws for all the Instrumentation that will delay the
commissioning & start-up of the Complex.
* Mitigating the potential flaws by proposing the countermeasures and initiating action and
fixing up the completion time for the mitigation plan.
* Formalize the QAP (Quality Assurance Plan) and agree upon the actions with each of the
EPC.
* Executing the audits on monthly basis to review with 6 EPC‟s, (Fluor, KBR, Tecnicas
Reunidas, Daelim, Samsung, and CTCI) to set the PRP activities to an acceptable level.
* Review and approve multi-discipline commissioning procedures - ensure compliance with
project standards, specifications and procedures.
* Testing of Instrumentation System as per testing plan (Dry Test, Dynamic Test).
* Monitors and confirm documentation of installation and start-up of control and
instrumentation systems, including start-up tests.
* Provide technical information for Major& Detailed activity list as per systemization.
* Organizes and facilitates workshop for commissioning and Start-up and system handover
activities.
* Plant Maintenance Management:
* Ensuring all maintenance activities are carried out in a safe manner, in accordance with the
best working practice.
* Planning and execution of Annual turnarounds (TA) and Shutdowns for the critical plants.
* Managing computerized SAP Maintenance Management system implementation from
scratch hierarchy, tag list, classification, Failure codes and activity codes.
* Instrumentation tags standardization and PM frequency optimization in SAP.
* Spares planning optimization (BOM, Min, Max Reorder levels) for routine and emergency
maintenance and insurance of high cost spares.
* Developing technical procedures, departmental procedures, Job description, work flow,
formats and check list complying ISO 9001/ISO14001 & SHEMS standards.
* Recruitment of new staff, conduct On Job Training for the new employees (individual + class
room training).
* Preparing the requirement of annual lists of spare parts, consumable materials and special
tools or test equipment.
* Troubleshooting Calibration of On-Line Process Gas Chromatographs & Gas Analyzers.
Testing & Calibration of Gas & Fire alarm System.
* Review and update instrumentation related Standard Maintenance Procedures (SMP).
* Coordinating with vendors for spares, technical Evaluation of the Bids and procurement,
warranty issues, annual maintenance contracts, repairs, and overhauls related to
equipment’s.
* Familiarization with Reliability Instrumented Systems (RIS) methodology for total plant
reliability.
* Provide technical support to Operations and maintenance organizations to resolve chronic
problems.
* Review Alarm management Philosophy and participate in Grouping, Categorization,
Suppression and Rationalizations of alarms.
* Maintain ISO 9001/ISO14001 documentation for external audits.
* Identify and resolve long-term instrumentation asset concerns (reliability threats).
* Highly skilled in recommending / implementing modifications and equipment calibrations to
enhance operational efficiencies of the systems.
* Headed assignments for maintenance strategy modifications, cost controlling as well as
productivity improvement.
* Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) process for major failures to assure prevention of
re-occurrence.
