CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT (CIVIL INSPECTOR) at ACONCAGUA RIVER CONSTRUCTION LTD.
  • Chile
  • December 2016 to November 2017

• I had two general functions: (1) to get subcontractors to comply with the conditions established in the contracts and (2) to supervise the quality of projects related to interior remodeling of administrative offices in high-rise buildings and remodeling of bank branches.
• My job was to coordinate the entry and exit of the teams in the different projects in execution and in the different shifts. Our teams worked during the night.
• The commitment to supervision in the field was essential to collect information and achieve progress in the works and meet the contractual deadlines. The technical problems, of interpretation of plans or of materiality were solved in the field.
• I managed to establish an adjusted schedule of activities so that the different teams of wet and dry completions would advance at the same time.
• My presence in the field allowed me to guarantee our clients the quality of the executed projects.

SITE ENGINEER at ALCORPA CONSTRUCTION LTD.
  • Chile
  • July 2016 to December 2016

• I supervised the execution of terminations in an apartment building of twenty-five levels. To carry out this work, I convened and organized the activities of two specialized teams to work simultaneously.
• My specific duties were to supervise the correct execution of the works within the deadlines established by the contract and to give support to the equipment by providing them with the necessary materials, tools and equipment.
• My commitment to field work allowed me to collect the necessary data to schedule the next day's activities and solve contingent problems quickly.
• In a few weeks, I was able to efficiently coordinate the activities of the team of "wet endings" in charge of making coatings, paints, slabs and some types of floors with the activities of the team of "dry ends" in charge of making mounts of false skies, windows, floating floors, doors, fittings, lighting and air conditioning.
• My technical planning was focused on meeting daily objectives. In this way, I managed to complete the project with only 87% of the time established by contract with the budget allocated for this project.

CIVIL SUPERINTENDENT (CIVIL INSPECTOR) at DEPARTMENT OF URBANISM AND CONSTRUCTION MUNICIPALITY OF CALDERA
  • Chile
  • January 2015 to June 2016

• I had two general functions: (1) to get the contractors to comply with the conditions established in the contracts and (2) to supervise the quality of the different projects under construction which were awarded by contractors through public bidding.
• The public responsibility of this position required to have complete and up-to-date knowledge about the technical and economic planning of the contracts to advise and supervise their compliance.
• I required to have complete control over the constructive process in each stage of the projects to guarantee the quality of the works to the citizens.
• My commitment to permanent work in the field and an appropriate character to lead and negotiate, allowed me to speed up the progress of the works and compliance with deadlines. The technical problems and conflicts of interest of the parties involved during the project execution process were resolved quickly and directly in the work.
• I estimate that 98% of the projects that I managed met all the conditions and deadlines established in the contracts. The objectives were not achieved in the remaining 2%, because the contracts were bad contracts. Specifically, these contracts restricted the actions of the Civil Superintendent.

• I managed to improve a significant volume of sandy soils that were not suitable for founding. During the excavations, I sent a sample of soil to the laboratory to determine its quality. Later, this more consistent material was separated and collected to be used as a stabilized material to replace sandy soils.
• To achieve the densities established in the technical specifications, I adopted as a general rule to place two layers of stabilized material 10 cm thick. These layers received the appropriate moisture and they were compacted independently before requiring a density analysis. I achieved a "proctor" of 110% in the first trial.
