As Energy Engineer at the United Nations Development Program in Lebanon, I am leading on implementing large and small-scale renewable energy projects complemented with national studies, enhancing innovation, pioneering in technology transfer and the creation of new value chains in the renewable energy and energy efficiency sector. In less than 1 moth I succeeded leading the coordination of a multi-disciplinary team to launch 10 Bids for 10 hospital PV Solar Systems, $1.5M in different areas in Lebanon, supporting them facing the pandemic by offering them clean, and constant cost- effective solutions, and currently leading on launching an another ITB for other 5 hospitals by end of June. Moreover, I am currently leading to finalize 2 other ITBs for efficient lighting solutions and Solar Water Heater Solutions for a total budget exceeding 1.5M USD
As energy consultant I developed PV Systems designs and feasibility studies for 5 industries to adapt Hybrid PV-Diesel systems for a total of 1.5 MWp, using different electrical and PV solar calculations software. Adding to this, I performed the energy audit for 3 industries and generated a recommendation reports for energy efficiency measures that will save around 26% on their energy bills. Moreover, I created a curriculum material for a renewable energy and energy efficiency course and delivered more than 100 hours of training for NGOs, municipalities, and universities. Adding to this, I held 3 webinars talking about smart cities, smart grids, and the challenges of renewable energy sources and their integration with the conventional sources and the grid for 2 IEEE chapters in Lebanon, and a seminar for university graduate engineers.
I led the prescription and business development activities in the Near East Region and started by mapping more than 25 consultants in Lebanon, Jordan and Iraq, delivered more than 100 in house trainings for consultants, universities, utilities, orders of engineers, channels partners, and sales team, which was reflected in an increase of ABB and channel partners sales. I also succeeded implementing an online learning path for channel partners. Moreover, I promoted, E-Design ABBs electrical calculations software and ABB Ability the energy and asset manager and succeeded in specifying ABB E-mobility solutions in landmark projects in Lebanon. Furthermore, I led the coordination between our channel partner, our factories and the contractors for the supply, installation, and commissioning of the first Fast ABB Terra 54 - 50 kW - DC EV Charger in Lebanon.
During this international assignment I thrived in a multinational setup where I was based in the HQ of ABB Smart Power business. The program consisted of a 1-year intensive technical and soft skills training covering ABB technical solutions, Sales workshops, value base selling trainings and visits to more than 12 ABB factories in Italy, Finland, Germany, and Switzerland. During this assignment I was able to gain better understanding of the production, sales, and marketing mechanisms and procedures of production, sales, and marketing. I developed deep knowledge in different electrification fields, Smart Power, Smart Buildings, Distribution, E-mobility and Grid Integration solutions.
As renewable energy engineer, I used to develop comprehensive design solutions for solar On and Off-Grid, PV systems with detailed site layouts and electrical design that meet all contractual, code, and permitting requirements. Besides, I was leading on the business development and succeeded in making business partnerships with PV Panels, and inverters manufacturers that gave us a leverage in the bids, adding to partnerships with international PV Solar System Integrators.
Adding to this, I advanced Utility scale PV solar farms, of 5 MW, 10 MW and 15 MW, and succeeded in creating a comparative table enabling better decision making regarding the design and distribution of panels, inverters, and cables. I also analyzed and assessed the financial feasibility of different renewable energy projects giving better insights to end user and helped me decide about the project sustainability.
As PV Solar Energy Engineer, I worked on the design, implementation and commissioning of On-Grid, Off-Gird Systems, Hybrid PV-Diesel, PV Solar pumping systems. on the other side I was also leading on the sales sides, where I approached potential and active clientele, and succeeded in securing 5 Hybrid PV Diesel projects for a total of 800 kWp in the first 3 months. Additionally, I developed and refined models and methods for predicting and evaluating solar power systems production and cost for up to 250 kWp commercial and industrial projects.
the project I worked on was about implementing a 20 MVA substation at Kfoury Metals industry, it lasts around 1 year, the works were about implementing all components of the substation, voltage and current transformers, surge arresters, circuit breakers, safety system, control rooms... the project was a great experience where my skills were evolved noticeably and introduced me to the power and control field of work.
