Senior HR Advisor (Labour Management Assistant) - Amazon.co.uk
(September 2012 - October 2013)
This job title (Labour Management Assistant) is an American job title. I sit in between HR and Operations primarily responsible for supplying a temporary workforce to Amazon, as well as supporting the permanent workforce regarding employee relations issues and overseeing some of the permanent recruitment. The role is equivalent to a Senior HR Advisor. I was part of a £4m launch project team, responsible for setting up and maintaining delivery stations across the UK. In the last year we have opened 6 delivery station and 1 Sortation Centre.
• Regionally responsible for supplying and supporting temporary labour to 8 Delivery Stations and 2 Sortation Centres across the UK, which includes supporting a workforce exceeding 1500 temporary Associates and 100 permanent employees across 8 sites
• Since my time at Amazon.co.uk I have supported 6 Launches, which included liaising with the suppliers and Delivery Station Managers to ensure that their headcount meets Amazon's business requirements; that the correct PPE was issued; and the learning curve was adhered to • Responsible for supporting and performance managing 15 different Suppliers
• Coordinated and interviewed recruitment panels, ensuring that business needs were met
• Provided support and coaching to local management: managing temporary staff, one to one, dealing with attendance and performance issue and development plans
• Rewrote, implemented and maintained new HR policies, strategies, and procedures for: overtime, absence, recruitment, retention and temporary payroll
• Responsible for risk analysis by mapping the businesses required headcount, and ensuring that a plan to recruit these roles were in place
• Restructured the recruitment process for both temporary and permanent staff, this included new compliance and audit policies, introducing a clouding exchange system and regenerated strategy plans. As well as facilitating large assessment days, including testing the applicants
• Initiated the recruitment process, which included Drug and Alcohol testing and background checking all successful applicants
• Created, monitored and maintained all metrics data for the Labour Management Team. I was responsible for reports such as (but not limited to): attrition, absence, recruitment, workforce, headcount, route/volume capacity per Delivery Associate, abandoned routes and supplier/vendor splits. Mostly reported via MS Excel documents
• Accountable for reporting this metrics to the wider business on a weekly basis to demonstrate delivering results
• Responsible for training new ISP's (Independent Service Provider) on Amazon policies and procedures, as well as supporting each supplier to ensure that they meet Amazon requirements and that they continue to grow with Amazon
• Analysing data and completing risk assessments, by reviewing the Suppliers headcount data and the business requirements in order to make informed assessments that could be a potential risk to business. This includes the suppliers inability to cover certain routes or volume, which would cause a business critical warning
• Building a good rapport with external suppliers to ensure they understand Amazon's key competencies and encourage each supplier to continually aim to exceed our expectations
• Worked closely with and provided valuable support to all levels and functions of the business. These stakeholders included building successful working relationship with General Managers, Finance director and Delivery Station Manager
• Worked closely with other teams to reduce attrition rates. Including implementing a new onboarding procedure to improve the applicants experience
• Responsible for resourcing, coordinating and recruiting many different levels (including Delivery Associates, Sortation Associates and Customer Service Coordinators)
