This is a very short term assignment where I'm assigned in secondment to Engineering Consultants' Group (ECG) as a temporary replacement for the their Senior ELV Engineer in a building project being developed that will be used partly as a hotel, mall and office spaces.
In this project, the Engineering Consultants Group is the supervision consultant in the construction phase of the project.
My key involvements as the ELV Engineer are the following:
1. Review the contractor’s sub-contractor pre-qualification documents and technical documents for approval.
2. Review the contractor’s/sub-contractor’s implementation and testing plans for approval.
3. Review the contractor’s/sub-contractor’s material submittal for approval of the following systems:
a. Local Area Network for ICT and Security including the Structured Cabling System
b. IP Telephony System
c. WiFi System
d. Public Address System
e. IPTV
f. Video Surveillance System
g. Building Management System
h. Access Control System
i. Online Keycard System
j. AV System
k. Room Automation System
l. Intercom System
m. Parking Management System
n. Gate Barrier System
My key involvements in the project are:
1. Provide detailed design reports, specifications, bandwidth calculations, data storage calculations, schematics and rack layouts for the converged network as well as the end to end applications such as:
a. Data and Voice System
b. Background Music and Public Address System
c. WiFi System and Distributed Antenna System

2. Lead a team in producing engineering drawings that include layouts, network diagrams, and schematics.
3. Coordinate with other disciplines for requirements such as spaces, power and cooling.

5. Respond to contractor and sub-contractor RFIs and RFQs
1. Installed synchronization element (e.g. SSU-2000) in the telecommunications premises that in turn will provide synchronization to the network.
2. Created Systems Acceptance Test procedures and Physical Acceptance Test Procedures of different equipment.
3. Performed provisioning, commissioning and upgrade to SSU-2000.
4. Presented the sync solutions to clients and how to implement the system.
5. Attended meetings for network synchronization planning from core to RAN part of the network.
6. Conducted performance testing for the sync system in the client’s (Globe Telecom) Test Bed and TDMoIP transport network test for one month in MERALCO (a major power utility in the Philippines).
7. Trained personnel (SMART Telecom, NGCP and IECI) about the fundamentals, installation and upgrade, basic troubleshooting of synchronization system and basics of NMS implementation and maintenance of the system.
8. Performed local tests and train the TS Engineers on how to set up the new equipment in turn. Also provided them with important notes of some fundamental parameters that are needed to be set.
1. Teaches students on basic concepts of computers, different parts and functions including the architecture, assembling and disassembling of PC and troubleshooting.
2. Teaches students on basic concepts and theories of electronics from resistors, conductors, capacitors, inductors, diodes to transistors. Also included in the subject syllabus are the applications of the electronic devices.
3. Teaches students on digital logic circuit theories from Boolean algebra to familiarization of logic gate IC’s and then allows the students to perform logic functions of these IC’s in laboratory.
4. Teaches the students on basic theories of electronic communication systems like modulation, digital communication, communication mediums, encoding and decoding and the like.
1. Provides technical support, troubleshooting and repairs to card printers.
2. Performs demonstrations and preventive maintenance.
