• Led the newly formed Marketing segment strategy formulation including the vision,
mission and strategy imperatives.
• Led the Group initiative on Balance Scorecard (BSC) development in the Retail Segment with the formulation of the key value drivers, KPI and initiatives, Subsequently also
coordinated the BSC development for the newly formed Marketing Segment and the reporting business units.
• Developed periodic monitoring tools including business units meetings to drive
performance and achieve BSC targets. Achieved above target performance for the segments over the 4 years.


Planning and Performance Management: • Led the business planning process for the Retail and Marketing segment for over 6 years
• Translated the Group aspirations and targets for the segment into individual business
unit targets
• Coordinated the strategy segment and business unit planning process in line with the
Group guidelines
• Developed periodic monitoring tools including business unit meetings to drive
performance and achieve budget targets. Achieved above target performance for the segments over the 6 years.


Financial and Management Reporting
• Overall responsibility for financial statements in accordance with IFRS for the Retail and Marketing segment (7 business units) for over 6 years, successful audit closure with
Big 4 audit firms
• Responsible for periodic management reporting using Cognos BI platform
• Initiated the process of individual profit centre reporting at the net profit level for the
Retail segment. This has enhanced the profitability focus on the individual profit
centres.
• Handled Group consolidation and reporting during the Group Finance stint.
• Developed dashboard for Senior Management on customer and product profitability.
• Developed system for monthly review of business units results incorporating financial
parameters and business feedback on financial performance and key business
developments.


Framework of Control: • Over 20 years extensive experience in development and review of control framework
documents including Delegation of Authority, varied policies on credit, financial
accounting and control including financial accounting manual, sales pricing, business
process in both Internal Audit and Finance roles.
• Secretary to JV Audit Committee to oversee implementation of audit recommendations for business unit.


Restructuring, New Ventures and Divestment: • Key focal point of the first phase of legal restructuring of the Market segment. Developed an elaborate plan and led a multi-functional team to successfully execute the name
change for the Marketing company involving multiple business.
• Key focal point for divestment of the Chemical business within the Marketing segment,
managed to divest the business with minimal current assets writedown.
• Key member of the Retail team involved in divestment of the vehicle repair JV to joint
venture partners
• Successfully setup the Finance function and the initial framework of control policies and procedures for the new Bunkering and Fuel Oil Trading joint ventures
• Interacted with leading management consultants i, e Mckinsey, Booz, AT Kearney on various Group organisation reviews
• Active member of the multi-functional team involved in various Organisational and
Business process study during the Internal Audit stint
