 Assist the office in implementing set standards for applications that meets the needs of
the users and supports the overall Information and Communication Technology.
 Monitor and maintain the LAN, Network Servers, Routers, Printers, LAN Points,
Switches, Patch panels, Access points, HF and VHF bases, HF and VHF relay stations,
Satellite Modem…to prevent faults occurring.
 Carry out missions for new installations and routine maintenance tours of ICT
equipment’s.
 Ensure that ICT problem recovery is done as quickly as possible and make regular
system back-ups.
 Assist with the installation of the software packages, basic repair/maintenance of
computer hardware, HF and VHF equipment.
 Train UNHCR staff on email system, utilization of VHF handhelds, telephone system.
 Add and remove users from the Networks.
Maintain the inventory of ICT equipment and keep track of movements of ICT
equipment.
 Draft mails and memoranda on ICT matters.
 Assist in the drafting of technical documentation on radio equipment operating
procedures
 Certify invoices and delivery notes and pass for payment.
 Evaluate needs for upgrading and eventually replacing ICT equipment in the field, to
meet with UNHCR standards.
 Select the most efficient and economic means for the transmission of messages, taking
into consideration the nature and priority of communications to be transmitted.
 Carry out administrative duties, within the area of competence as assigned.
 Perform other duties as required.

Carry out system maintenance tasks, such as performing monitoring tasks, running system diagnostics, and system optimization, to ensure they are running effectively and enable easy and efficient use.
Maintain technology, including standard repairs, configuration, and storage, in accordance with data security and access controls to ensure IT equipment required is available.
Prepare files and systems for inventory and archives, such as website content and directories, to ensure information is accurate and up-to-date.
Allocate tasks to other colleagues, ensuring that tasks are delivered to agreed standards and deadlines, to support the effective delivery of services.
Respond to a variety of queries about technology and systems in order to assist staff to deliver their services.
With support of senior colleagues, provide standard training to end users of technology and systems to ensure staff use standard technology and systems effectively.
Perform routine deployments of server.

Test, install and maintain the United Nations digital microwave communications systems.
Provide assistant in the preparation and installation of microwave radio systems and related equipment.
Oversees the setup, configuration and testing of the various digital microwave radio systems utilizing a wide range of specialized and complex test equipment.
Provide technical support to end users.
Coordinates the programming, testing and commissioning of new equipment prior to deployment.
Coordinates radio-link calculation and path profile analysis.
Install new/rebuild existing servers and configure hardware, peripherals, services, settings, directories, storage, etc. in accordance with standards and project/operational requirements.
Ensures high availability and acceptable levels of performance of mission critical host computer resources.
Works closely with the Rigging unit regarding the deployment of relevant antennas and feeder lines on communications towers and masts.
Programming and alignment of microwave radios.
Installation of microwave radios, multiplexers, protection switches, Power supplies, UPS and solar panel & its equipment;
Alignment of microwave antennas, including Terminating co-axial cables and power cables and Installation of lightening protection devices, grounding systems and cable trays;

• Effective functioning (installation, operation and maintenance) of all UNOPS hardware equipment and acquisition of hardware supplies.
• Full compliance of ICT activities with UNOPS rules, regulations, policies and strategies.
• Contribution to the office’s ICT business processes mapping and to the elaboration of internal Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) in ICT, in consultation with the direct supervisor and office management.
• Participation in the development of ICT standards and strategies.
• Maintenance of inventory of all computer, telecommunication equipment, I/O devices and software existent in the office ensuring compliance with registration and upgrades.
• Effective functioning (installation, operation and maintenance) of all UNOPS hardware equipment and acquisition of hardware supplies.
• Performance of specific technical functions, including changing of hardware electronic components (disks, memories, network wiring, power sources, etc.) and routine repairs.
• Supervision of information and communication services of the Sudan Office.
• Advice on project implementation on all activities involving ICT.
• Provision of consulting services, ICT audit inspections and/or facilitation of selection/deployment of software to projects, seeking technical advice and support from ICT Development staff as required.
• Liaison with UNOPS Headquarters, Decentralized Offices and project offices to determine hardware and software requirements.
• Acting as UNOPS' liaison with the local UN partner agencies on issues relating to UNOPS ICT.
• Active networking with clients on how to address and improve mutually common areas of concern.
• Maintenance of the Local Area Network (LAN) and Wide Area Network (WAN) systems to ensure that Network Operating Systems support databases, documents, resources and data files.
• Installation, upgrading and maintenance of LAN/WAN systems, including applications used in the system.
• Advice to management, clients and colleagues on subject matter expertise

• Assist users and other technical staff solving network and end user equipment problems.
• Receive and process Help Desk Calls and Record request for services.
• Assist users both remotely or in person on any IT related problem;
• Identifies, tracks, isolate and repair network faults;
• Uses hardware and software tools to monitor network utilization, efficiency and Performance.
• Install and support LANs, WANs, network segments, Internet, and intranet systems.
• Design and deployment of standard user desktop environment;
• Administer servers, desktop computers, printers, routers, switches, firewalls, digital sender, software deployment, security updates and patches.
• Training and support for new users.

•Following IT guideline procedures provide proper and full Helpdesk services to end users, this including respond to request for technical assistance and advice users on appropriate action to be taken or make arrangements for a follow-up if required, provide a second level support to Mission Staff on all IT and related issues and escalate to third level if required, respond to failure of Service by making appropriate correction or by alerting those responsible in order to restore the Service, log, track and route all cases of Service Failure in the system, and generate a Daily report of Nightly activities
• Ensure reliable network-based services such as network storage, print services, anti-virus, software updates, and internet access to all customers, by deploying the latest Microsoft product updates through WSUS console, monitor and keep Anti-virus up to date, and assist in creating, modifying, and monitoring windows share point services.
• Monitor network, antivirus and internet services, this including monitoring the access to the inter by mission staff to ensure minimum downtime, mentoring and managing of the window server updates service (WSUS) to ensure that all clients getting all windows updates, monitoring of network equipment such as switches, router, microwave links, wireless access point, and satellite modems, administer web filtering for all incoming and outgoing internet traffics, monitor data traffic on all internal and external links, resolution network log in issues and creation of AD accounts, and monitor of the Antivirus protection and update to all clients.

• Performs computer trouble-shooting to diagnose system problems, identifies, locates, resolves, and repairs problems within scope of authority.
• Documents call records and results this including install, repair, upgrade and configure operating system to lab computers.
• Assist in maintaining optimal performance for IT equipments, maintains and updates configuration and inventory database.
• Plan and instructs student in proper usage of computer hardware and instructional software, and assist teachers in planning and implementing lessons using the computer as a classroom tool.
• Maintains student discipline in computer areas, this include assists the students in using computers for tasks assigned by classroom teachers.
• Supervise students taking tests and ensure compliance with all rules and standards.
