• The overall aim of the Health Economics Department was to aid decision makers to make efficient and equitable decisions about the allocation of scarce resources by comparing the costs and benefits of health care interventions.
• As a head of Health Economics Department, I was leading, managing, and coordinating the work of the three sub-sections hosted in the department:
• National Health Accounts section, Health Technology Assessment section, and Health Financing Strategy section.
• I also participated in multi-discipline and multi-sectoral committees to inform the decision makers regarding the cost, benefit, cost-effectiveness, or the economic impact of the discussed topics.
• Conducted several short courses trainings on the following topics : - Health Economics awareness - Health Financing for Universal Health Coverage - National Health Accounts - Health Economics Evaluation - Development of HTA in Jordan
• Reviewing drugs dossiers submitted for the therapeutic and pharmaceutical committee from economic perspective to include the drug in the Rational Drug List. This includes literature review, calculating the budget impact of this drug and show how it re-shapes the amount of fund paid after approving the drug to the rational drug list.
• As a member of national multi-discipline committees relating to health economics and health policy, my responsibility included without limited to, conducting economic evaluation for the drugs and inform the decision maker regarding the cost-effectiveness or the feasibility of investment in these technologies or policies.
