Cases seen: Paediatrics- both physically and Intellectually challenged.

Duties:

 Screening OT/ Early Intervention potential cases.
 Evaluating using standardized and non-standardized tools for special needs such as cognitive, perceptual, play, sensory integration functions, hand functions, hand writing skills, social and communicative skills, academic skills.
 Carryout specialized Sensory Integration Assessments.
 Supervise junior therapists and monitor and mentor as required.

• Screen OT potential cases.
• Occupational Therapy assessment using both standardized and non standardized. Evaluate performance capacity in activities of daily living, carry out pain assessments, wheel chair assessments, falls risk assessment, manual handling risk assessments.
• Provide Evidence based OT intervention - using MOHO.
• Adherence to infection control, personal protective equipment policies and patient safety policies.
• Participate in multidisciplinary ward rounds and case discussions.
• Carry out case presentation, journal club and In-service training within OT and with multi disciplinary team.
• Designing and fabrication of splints.
• Documentation of Patients progress in computer (SOAPE format) as per JCI policies.
• Carry out Home visits, home assessment, home modification and equipment adaptation, car adaptation, wheel chair prescription and training, demonstrating handling of assistive and adaptive devices etc
• Patient and caregiver education.
• Provide Inter departmental Referrals.
• Equipment prescription assessment, liaison with social services and companies for provision of equipments.
• Participation in discharge plan meeting and facilitate safe discharge process with MDT
• Liaise with Occupational Therapy Assistants regarding patient treatment and provide supervision.
• Participation and contribution to the Department Staff Development Program
• Safe use of equipments and monitor for defects and patient safety.
• Record of statistical data.
• Participation in the performance review process/ audit processes.
• Maintenance of professional competence to practice.
• Participation in quality improvement activities as required, attend relevant courses, seminars/workshops in conjunction with Continuing Professional Development (CPD) and Personal Development Planning (PDP).

 Screen OT/ Early Intervention potential cases.
 Evaluate using standardized and non-standardized tools such as cognitive, perceptual, play, sensory integration functions, hand functions, hand writing skills, social and communicative skills, academic skills.
 Provide Evidence based Occupational Therapy Intervention using Sensory Integration Approach, Canadian Model of Occupational Performance and MOHO.
 Clinical Documentation (Electronic) of patient progress in accordance to standards of practice.
 Parent/Carer education in handling children during self care, provide sensory diet, home modification according to sensory need of children.
 Carry out school visits and special assessments on hand writing skills, postural adjustments, perceptual skills, discuss with teachers on OT issues, advice on classroom modification and adaptations, incorporating OT aims in school routines.
 Planning and Directing IEP programs along with Educational Professionals .
 Make home visits, home assessments, suggest environmental modifications, demonstrate handling techniques to parents.
 Carry out community visits, plan modifications within the community resources in their own settings, conduct awareness programs and reaching the unreached with effective communicative aids.
 Teach students on training placements, preparing training manual, assist and provide clinical supervision to junior staff.
 Carry out in-service training within MDT, specially on Sensory Integration Issues and Evidences.
 Communicate reports verbally or in written manner about the patient information, referrals to other professionals and provide expert opinion and advice to medical consultants working in pediatrics and thereby assist in the formulation of a differential diagnosis.
 Measure statistically clinical outcomes, participate in clinical audit and report quality issues.
 Plan and Recruit staff, conduct interviews, provide training.

 Prioritize and manage caseload.
 Assessing special needs of the children using standardized and non-standardized tools .Prioritize goals along with family members and SEN teachers. Provide OT intervention using MOHO, Sensory Integration approach under supervision of Senior Therapist.
 Incorporate occupational therapy into the child’s school\ nursery timetable and home routines.
 Carry out regular school visits, evaluation of academic skills such as handwriting, perceptual, motor etc. Conduct pull-out therapy- individual sessions and group sessions on need-basis. Educate teachers/carers on OT specific areas such as sensory issues etc, prescribe classroom/home modification and tool adaptations.
 Prescribe assistive and adaptive devices, monitor for fitness and patient safety, training clients in using devices. Report clinical outomes to Senior OT.
 Participate and carry out case presentations /discussions within MDT.
 Early Identification of potential cases from nurseries, play schools and provide Early intervention, Carer' Education in handling the child.
 Case allocation to placement students, supervise trainees, provide clinical teaching to students and junior staff.
 Carryout clinical records and documentation and also written referrals/electronic reports to schools and social services.
 Carryout inventory checklist of tools and equipments, report on maintenance requirements and plan budgeting and place purchase order of equipments.
