Kuwait Drilling Fluids & Oil Services, Kuwait, is a joint venture of Mi SWACO, (a Schlumberger owned entity) based in the US. Mi SWACO is one of the world’s largest mud companies engaged in manufacture and supply of industrial minerals viz., Barite, Bentonite, Marble, Silica Flour and other additives for manufacturing drilling fluids. And the provision of drilling fluid (Mud) mixing and storage facilities (mud plants), transportation, restoration, and related well-site services to the oil and gas well drilling industry.
As Plant Manager I was responsible for the entire manufacturing, blending, provision of transportation logistics and maintenance services of the Barite & Bentonite grinding plant. In addition, I was also responsible for the operations and maintenance of the all the mud plants in the Burgan, North Kuwait oil fields and those at the wellheads with a combined storage capacity of nearly 50000 bbls and all the equipment viz., bulk tankers, vacuum tankers, mud pumps, mixing tanks, compressors, etc.,
I also served the dual role of the QHSE Coordinator during this period. QHSE compliance, training and policy implementation was also part of the responsibilities.
Notable accomplishments are
1. Process improvements to increase Barite production, changes to material storage & conveying lines resulting in improved flexibility, implemented maintenance systems to improve the reliability of plant and equipment.
2. Engineered, supervised the project work and commissioned a 25000 bbl mud mixing and storage facility and refurbished a second 5000 bbl mixing and storage facility and other well-side mud storage and handling facilities.
3. Implemented HSE systems, participated as a team member in establishing and implementing QHSE management systems under ISO9001, ISO45001, ISO 14001 and OHSAS18001 standards.
Arabian Minerals and Chemicals Co, Dammam, Saudi Arabia, also a joint venture of Mi SWACO, (a Schlumberger Co) in Saudi Arabia which is engaged in manufacture and supply of industrial minerals & drilling fluid additives for the oil industry.
As Plant Manager oversaw the operations of the plant manufacturing Barite, Bentonite, Marble.
I also served the dual role of the QHSE Coordinator during this period. QHSE compliance, training and policy implementation was also part of the responsibilities.
Notable accomplishments being
1. Implemented predictive maintenance techniques to ensure the reliability of the plant.
2. Initiated HSE training to bring down incidents.
3. Brought about a positive overall improvement in plant availability, reduction of wasteful re-processing and every other area of plant operations.
Impressed by the improvements accomplished by me I was given the choice to take charge of the much bigger operations of the Kuwait JV by the regional management.
1. Manager Maintenance at ACC Cement Ltd between
March 1991 to October 1993
Oversight and Responsible for the maintenance of the entire cement plant machinery, equipment utilities and support services i.e., all sections of the Cement manufacturing unit at Chandrapur in Maharashtra.
Most notable accomplishment being planning and execution of major modifications to the preheater system to improve the fuel efficiency of the clinkering process and in the grinding process for the reduction of power consumption
2. Senior Engineer Electrical
ICSE, Baghdad, Iraq (On deputation) - Khubaisa Unit - November 1987 to December 1990
Was on deputation from ACC Ltd as apart of the team for the Operations and Maintenance contract with ICSE. Responsible for the operations and maintenance of the entire electrical power supply system, back-up generator sets, drive systems, distribution and control systems.

I started the career as a Junior Engineer and occupied several positions and functional responsibilities in Electrical Maintenance, operation of the captive Diesel Power Plant, Supply Chain Management and Industrial Projects.
