Recruited for the start-up of a branch, with the initial plan to build a team over 4 years of 20 individuals and an annual financing volume of EUR 3 billion.
The responsibilities include supervisory, execution and monitoring of deals; leadership and coaching of team members; and equally important convincing of colleagues. The deals ranged from equity investments to senior debt.
I developed the strategy and the business plan of the branch, recruited and built-up a team of 15 individuals and I drive the implementation and execution of strategy and plan. This also includes managing, coaching and motivating people in various parts of the bank involved in the deal. I am fully or partly the deal-team leader for various marketing pitches prospects and execution of deals.
The latter includes marketing and client management, originating of business, underwriting of risk and management of highly skilled staff. In early 2001, after only one year of operation, the branch reached break-even. And by the end of 2002 we had a return on equity of 13, 5% (which is 50% higher than the average of the bank)
Following the success of the branch in Stockholm, the bank has expanded throughout the baltic rim. As a part in this expansion I am a member of our Baltic Board (5 persons in total) this includes the responsibility of approx 2000 employees.
In a relatively short time and in difficult market conditions strong relationships have been developed with the major Swedish companies, this has resulted in a solid pipeline of mandates and opportunities. More then 50 large deals have been concluded. This has been achieved at 50% of the costs of the adjusted plan. Deals concluded has been in the area of Acquisition Finance, Export Finance, Working Capital Facilities, Trade Finance, Eurobonds, ABS Structures and other related commercial banking products
I was recruited to open the operations in Scandinavia, however, due to the impact the Russian financial crises had on the organisation the operations was closed down after one year.
Recruited as a catalyst for change into a more market oriented and client focused institution.
Full responsibility for origination, structuring, execution and completion of transactions within my area of responsibility which involved extensive travelling in these areas.
My role was to provide financial sales support for ABB industrial companies, such as risk management and project and export finance advisory. Deals involved multilateral agencies, aid organisations, ECA’s, and various lending organisations
Responsible for a number of different transactions, primarily in the area of project and export finance. In particular I worked with ABB, Stora-Enso, SCA, Volvo, Incentive, Vattenfall, Ericsson, Skanska, Telia, Sonera and Nokia and the financing of projects related to these companies and/or for its offshore ventures.
This involved marketing/client calling and origination; structuring and executing including financial modelling; and documentation and syndication. I had a role in developing the Structured Finance unit to become independent and skilful and capable of handling deals from start to end with only limited support from other functions within the bank.
