Responsible for setting up equity research plans for Noor Capital, supervising junior analysts through reviewing their research reports and offering technical and theoretical guidance, developing new research products that attract clients’ interests (daily and weekly newsletters and flash notes), undertaking in-house sales and establishing close contacts with government officials and corporate heads to source information in a timely manner and writing thorough equity valuation reports (sector and company notes).
Responsible for handling investor relations activities including preparation of the group quarterly newsletters, press releases and corporate presentations, conducting conference calls and road shows and to meet with institutional investors (fund managers), analysis of business trends, assessment of potential acquisitions and/or disposals, overseeing the group’s investment portfolio and recommending actions to boost underlying returns. Also responsible of all treasury activities, including the managment of interest rate and exchange rate risks, dealing with creditor banks and forecasting cash flow requirements.
The job involves the following tasks:
• Supervising four departments (38 employees) structured under the promotion sector namely, research and market intelligence, promotion and facilitation, events, linkages and expatriates and investor after care.
• The sector acts as a nucleus of Egypt's IPA (Investor Promotion Agency) within the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones, whereby the mission of each department is presented hereunder:
Research and Market Intelligence Department:
1. Devise Egypt's first Investor Information System, which includes macro, sectoral and project information
2. Identify potential leads in targeted sectors on a selective country basis
3. Compile ad-hoc data gathering upon potential investors' requests
Promotion and Facilitation Department:
1. Structure and conduct promotional campaigns in target markets to secure inbound visits by potential foreign investors
2. Assist inbound foreign and local investors till project materialization stage
Investor Aftercare Department:
1. Assist established investors in their expansion plans to further attract FDI
2. Relay issues to policy advocacy department with a recommendation.
Events, Linkages and Expatriates Department:
1. Compile events calendar and organize logistics of overseas and domestic promotional events
2. Maintain and update a company database for business linkages (B2B)
3. Construct a database encompassing contact details of Egyptian expatriates
The job involves the following tasks:
• Conducting fundamental equity research analysis on companies listed in three Arab markets; namely Jordan, Saudi Arabia and Egypt
• Advising on asset allocation among countries and sectors for a USD1 billion proprietary portfolio and periodically measuring performance versus a clearly identifiable benchmark
• Place buy/sell orders with brokers and follow up on execution and settlement procedures
• Review private placement memorandums presented to Damac Group and advice on participation.
• Assess the performance of Damac Group’s subsidiaries and advice on disposals and/or acquisitions.
• Traveling across the Middle East region to identify lucrative investment opportunities, be it FDI and/or portfolio investments.
• Conduct proxy voting in general assembly meeting in favor of Damac Group's interest.
The job involves undertaking the following:
• Setting research plans for the Egyptian desk in collaboration with the London-based head of research in Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA).
• Supervising junior analysts through reviewing their research reports and offering technical and theoretical guidance.
• Undertaking in-house sales and establishing close contacts with government officials and corporate heads to source information in a timely manner.
• Assisting HSBC investment banking team in studying new issues and structuring offering circulars and prospectuses, taking into consideration applicable compliance rules/regulations.
• Developing new research products that attract clients’ interests (daily and weekly newsletters and flash notes) and assisting the head of Emerging Markets Economic research desk in compiling macroeconomic reports on Egypt.
• Conducting local and overseas road shows to sell Egyptian equities to institutional investors based on fundamental research analysis.
• Writing equity valuation reports (sector and company) and recommending stocks to investors using sophisticated financial models and applying a number of techniques including; Discounted Cash Flow, Economic Value Added EVA™, Discounted Dividend Model, Spot multiples (e.g. P/E, P/BV, EV/Sales, EV/EBITDA….etc).
Extensively involved in applying various thorough valuation techniques on securities either listed on the local stock exchanges or to be offered through an IPO/Private Placement. Participated in a number of assignments that included Bond Issuance, Financial Restructuring, Capital Increase Issues and Equity Participation’s. Job duties mandated reviewing/preparing floatation memorandums, spreading historical financial statements, appraising companies’ historical performance, understanding value drivers, modeling DCF projections’ assumptions, drawing up the forecasted financial statements and finally recommending acquisitions / disposals.
Responsible for compiling a database integrating information on Egyptian companies listed on the stock exchange. The job requisitioned identifying various cash based assets, fixed income securities & equities, advising clients on allocation decisions to assist them realize their own investment objectives. Moreover, I was assigned to undertake subscription in new issues, follow up on executions, collection of dividends, rights, splits and bonus issues and repatriation of proceeds.
The duties of the job included accepting, transferring, renewing and liquidating personal and institutional deposits held with the bank in local and foreign currencies as well as executing transmittances. The job demanded extensive use of computers, dealing with clients and correspondent banks and storing valuable data files.

I received a MSc. in International Economics, Banking and Finance. I was awarded a full scholarship by the British Foreign and Commonwealth Office. I wrote a thesis on “The Impact of Exchange Rate Realignments on Stock Price Behavior in an Emerging Stock Market; namely Jordan”. This paper was later published in the Journal of Business Finance and Accounting in the UK.
