•Ensuring the bank compliance with Group/ Regional Operational Risk & Internal Control (ORIC) policies and procedures and acting as the Country Risk Coordinator for the area and providing ongoing guidance and direction to all businesses
•Ensuring an acceptable level of Internal Control commensurate with the scale and nature of operations is maintained in coordination with compliance and Anti-money laundering.
•Ensuring the bank’s assets are adequately protected by managing an effective Operational Risk Management framework process where risks are identified, measured, monitored and controlled.
•Setting-up and managing the Bank’s ORIC Committee meetings
•Set-up a full-fledged network of Business Risk Coordinators (BRCs) within the different departments and providing them with continuous follow-up and training on the Operational Risk system used.
•Preparation and delivery of presentations on Internal Control and Operational Risk to Senior Executives.
•Reviewed and enhanced the controls and SLAs for off shoring processes to the Centre of Excellence in the different departments of the Bank.
•Lead, in coordination with the department heads, the Risk and Control Assessments (RCA) by identifying risks, controls and actions to be implemented which serve as a basis for the departments’ internal control.
•Conducting special projects and investigating operational losses and frauds.
•Planning and conducting ICL reviews and issuing reports while insuring compliance with all relevant Bank policies and procedures and central bank regulations as part of the yearly audit remit.
•Assisting/ ensuring compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements in the Bank
•Ensured losses and penalties incurred by the bank were below targets set by the Region.
