During my time with VPT I had an opportunity to work in the various jobs. I have gained experience in both site and office roles under the supervision of the senior hydrographic surveyor and was involved in the following activities:
• Regular port hydrographic surveys.
• Survey for Phase 3 dredging projects of 14m to 16.1m depths at the inner harbor.
• Beach profile surveys required for assessing the quantity of the sand for beach nourishment.
• Periodical port surveys at the berth front area, channels, turning basis of inner harbor and outer harbor.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Planning day-to-day activities with the survey team under the supervision of the senior hydrographic surveyor.
• Acquiring and logging of survey data.
• Monitoring the daily activities and survey equipment to make sure the survey progress is smooth and efficient.
• Preparing the survey lines under the guidance of the senior hydrographic surveyor.
• Assisted in Processing and cleaning of the survey data.
It was a great opportunity for me to expose myself and learn survey techniques under the supervision of 4 qualified and knowledgeable senior hydrographic surveyors. I was onboard in the survey vessel ARCA and was involved in the following activities:
• Bathymetry using multibeam and singlebeam echosounder.
• Object detection using side scan sonar.
• Soil sampling and bulk density determination for dredging purposes.
• Wave buoy deployment for weather predictions.
Takreer IRP-2 Project: Construction of pipeline linking Abu Dhabi Refinery plants -Ruwais, Mussafah and Al Ain station - Abu Dhabi airport. The project also Includes construction of Terminals and Tanks in Ruwais, Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and Madinat Zayed.
ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Prepare and review the QA/QC related documents.
• Prepare the method statements according to client specifications and with the reference of the standards proposed in the DGS.
• Performing non-destructive tests as per the standards of ASTM, ASME AND ISO.
• Inspections and surveys in the site and material vendor.
• Played key role in managing the quality and quantity of work with a proper communication with the construction departments and the client representative.
• Discussed and implemented the alternate ideas for the quality work with economic benefits with approval of the client representative.
December 2007 - May 2012 CAIRN INDIA as Mechanical, Painting & Coating inspector
Project Associated: Mangala Development Pipeline project (MDP) Rajasthan INDIA. Total of 148 development wells have been drilled and completed with 96 producers and 33 injectors operationalized. The Company has successfully drilled and completed 11 horizontal wells at Mangala. Going forward, the Company intends to bring other wells on stream in a staged manner. Mangala development pipeline is the longest constinuosly heated pipeline of 670 km long.
