Operation Security and Access:
 Advise and respond to access and security matters and build the capacity of the Safety & Security team.
 Track, map, and analyze incidents relating to security and access in Syria, particularly North East Syria (NES).
 Work with the NES Context Analyst to provide the country program with a high level of understanding of patterns, trends, and appropriate MC responses.
 Work with the NES Context Analyst to develop early warning indicators as they may pertain to the NES team and wider context within the area.
 Lead security incident management as the lead in-country security focal point, and part of senior leadership for the NES program and a core member of a crisis management team responsible for the resolution of all incidents.
 Ensure that all NES team members are cognizant of security procedures and are following them at all times, highlighting challenges in their implementation when necessary.
 Develop a community acceptance strategy and other operational strategies involving the NES context.
 Ensure that the NES program has a robust and flexible access strategy and keeps abreast of all country and regional issues relating to access, in coordination with the NES Context Analyst, Area Director and other relevant NES team members.
 Ensure that the NES security team structure is sufficient and recommend and implement improvements as needed in coordination with the management team.
 Input into proposals and budgets, ensuring that security needs are addressed and correctly budgeted for.
 Ensure that staff are tracked during movements and NES management team are updated in real-time of any unfolding events or incidents.
Security Information and Analysis:
 Work with the Humanitarian Access team Context Analyst to support relevant, timely analysis which effectively informs programming, this includes high quality weekly reports more frequent flash updates as needed based on the security situation on the ground.
 Ensure Syria weekly security report answer programmatic needs and address key events in the reporting period.
 Support the relevance of NES Team Contingency Planning by working with the Context Analyst and relevant NES team members on scenario planning and response option planning.
 Lead the coordination with other NGOs in the area of operations, contributing to shared analysis and coherent operational decisions within the humanitarian sector, this includes representing MC in security related forums.
 Conduct security assessments, maintain updated risk assessments, security management plans, contingency plans and security strategies.
Security System and Capacity Building:
 Address key needs and gaps to put in place and implement a holistic capacity building plan for the Security Team as a whole. Conduccet different learning methodologies including but not limited to; trainings, workshops, on the job training, coaching and mentoring.
 Develop the facilitation skills of the Security Team to ensure they are able to roll out interesting and sophisticated security trainings for the rest of the NES team.
 Identify strategic weaknesses in security or situational awareness with the entire Northeast Syria team and will advise and address these issues.
 Ensure that high performing individuals of the security team are invested in and mentored to increase their capacity.

Humanitarian Access & Security Senior Manager at International Rescue Committee
