• Overseeing the technical implementation, configuration, administration and troubleshooting of windows servers (2003/2008/2012) local and remotely using administration tools like RDP, IBM CMM, ILO, VM Console, SCCM, etc.
• Accountable for
o Installing OS, databases and application software under multi-platform environments, deployment of servers and monitoring the same
o Installing, configuring and maintaining of virtualization on ESXi servers with virtual centre and Hyper-V
o Configuration, administration and troubleshooting for VMware ESXi servers, HA, DRS, VMotion and troubleshooting of virtual centre
• Monitoring VM’s & ESXI servers (CPU, Memory, Disk, Network Utilization) for security compliance, creating templates, editing and deploying VM's using templates, managing snapshots and restoring, cloning of VM's, configuring V Switch and ports
• Executing hot conversion and cold conversion of physical server's to VM's and VM's to VM's, creating and managing VMware cluster and enabling HA and DRS features in a cluster
• Responsible for moving VM's from one LUN to another LUN using storage VMOTION, maintaining server health by checking performance monitor logs, disk- space utilization, events viewer reporting, taking corrective measures and monitoring that all servers are properly updated with the Latest Service Pack, Patches, Firmware, Drivers, etc.
• Performing critical changes and performance tuning on messaging servers and working as per the alerts from monitoring tools like V centre, IBM CMM, ILO and SCOM
• Reviewing and initiating measures for automating / streamlining internal processes
• Conducting research on new software, generating daily and weekly server performance reports, identifying & developing vendors for procuring IT related products & devices at reasonable cost-effective rates and ensuring reliable backups to meet operational and data recovery requirements
• Formulating strategies for disaster recovery management including planning and designing servers for backup and recovery of server / database information and determining backup time using throughput rates and Monitor the backup and restore process.
• Looking after gamut of tasks including monthly offline backups and data growth projections, managing physical tape libraries (LTO5) tape based, which were backing up Servers, most of them were file system backups, few oracle databases and few MSSQL databases
• Scheduling and Managing block level reduplication backup using Symantec Backup Executive
• Managing storage allocation and diagnosing and reporting storage related problems on servers
• Automating the environment for common activities like health check/RDP check post patching
