FM Engineer (Jan 2004 - Present)
Site Services Department absorbed into the Engineering Department. Role changed to Facilities Management (FM) Engineer. Main responsibility is the management of a FM company to provide the maintenance and development of the site utilities, cleaning, catering and security. I also have responsibility for the operation and maintenance of two 2.05 MW Wind Turbines, via a third party contractor.
Also I manage major projects on site. Projects carried out recently included:
o Design, installation and commissioning of an Automated Crane System (£1.9m).
o Design, installation and commissioning of an Automated Guided Vehicle System
Maintenance Engineer (Jan. 1998 - Jan. 2004)
Based in the Site Services Department. Responsibilities included direct line management of eight maintenance technicians (mechanical and electrical) maintenance and development of the site utilities, HVAC, fire systems and site wide energy management.
First role was to provide technical support to the Household Products Division. Projects carried out included:
o Installation and commissioning of metal detection equipment.
o Upgrade of a kitchen towel printing machine.
In 1995 I was transferred to the Site Services department, where I managed a small team of maintenance personnel, including a supervisor. Responsibilities included the maintenance and development of site utilities, HVAC, fire systems and site wide energy reduction programme.
Worked in Technical Services Department, responsibilities included preparing engineering proposals, with costs, to support a capital investment programme. Design, specification, installation and commissioning of equipment. Projects carried out included:
o Rotary Press
o Paint Mixing Facility
o Production Line (£1m)
o Dust Extraction System (£500k)
Worked in Plant and Maintenance Department, responsibilities included project management of a variety of projects:
o Design and costing of a new plant layout for Cape Insulation
o Renewal of heating and hot water pipework for HMYCC Castington
o M&E installation for a new polymer processing plant
Indentured Technical Apprenticeship. Worked in Drawing Office, Design Office and Operations Control Department.
