Start with Parsons as Assistant Resident Engineer to supervise, monitor, and manage a Micro-Tunneling/ Shafts and Manhole construction project which includes a total tunneling distance of 16.6 km with pipe diameters ranging from 400 to 2400 mm and a total number of shafts equal to 66 with a maximum depth of 47 meters.
Job Responsibilities:
*Reporting to the RE is to assist in the supervision, monitoring, and management of the Contractor including their compliance with the Contract.
*Emphasizing safe construction practices (Own Zero) and maintaining a high quality of construction. Lead by example in driving safe practices on site.
*Assisting the RE in monitoring the progress of the construction of the Works against the Program, and taking steps to ensure compliance with the Program
*Assisting the RE in the management of Inspectors for the supervision and monitoring of the execution and compliance of the Works.
*Assisting the RE in reporting on progress, safety, finance, quality, delay, and changes for the construction aspects of the Works.
*Building a trusted relationship with the management team and with the Client’s staff.
*Establishing an appropriate working relationship with the Contractor’s team.
*Orient, assign, and supervise the construction inspection staff daily so that all Contractor activities are adequately covered.
*Ensuring that the project quality control procedures are implemented for the supervision aspects of the Works and continually monitoring these procedures for possible improvements.
*Cooperating with audits required by the Contract and PIL’s internal systems.
*Contributing to the review of the Contractor’s design submissions for safety and buildability.
*Evaluating and adapting construction management and control techniques, procedures, and criteria to suit job tasks, and devising and implementing solutions to problems encountered.
*Ensuring that the team of Inspectors effectively identifies, manages, and reports project risks.
*Reviewing the Inspector’s daily reports preparing the Site's Daily Report, and generally overseeing the Inspector’s daily activities including work assignments, on-site performance, and guiding the supervision of the Contractor’s operations.
Run all field operations throughout the Middle East region. Responsibilities include the following:
*Recommend suitable MTBM machines for the project, review all technical specifications, and approve them.
*Prepare the tunneling and micro tunneling method statements including all required engineering calculations, discuss them with consultants and clients, and obtain the approvals
*Plan the micro-tunneling activities and shaft constructions including the required manpower and equipment.
*Supervise all project aspects which include Survey, Design, Execution, Testing, and Handing over
*Supervise field operations to ensure the progress is in the line with project's scheduled plan or ahead, and revise the plan in case the progress is behind schedule.
*Coordinate all related field activities to ensure project completion under the targeted budget and within the given time frame.
*Conduct all required meetings with consultants, clients, and all relevant government departments.
*Provide the field with technical solutions for occurring problems and supervise the implementations.
*Evaluate the performance of office and field employees and develop their technical skills.
*Pricing the tenders and preparing bid estimates for all types of public works in the field of micro tunneling
*Selection and procurement of all local required equipment, tools, and machinery. Supervise the operation and maintenance of all TBM and micro tunneling equipment.
*Develop the operational and maintenance policies and procedures required for the execution of the project.
In charge of business development and marketing.
*Approve and sign contracts on behalf of the company.
*Ensure that all activities are compatible with the standard specs of the project.
*Provide the project-required reports.
Start from scratch the largest micro tunneling project in the world which includes a total tunneling distance of 75 km with pipe diameters ranging from 600 to 3500 mm and a total number of shafts equal to 460 with a maximum depth of 70 meters using the famous Herrenknecht TBM. The value exceeded (1, 300, 000, 000) SR. (one billion, three hundred million Saudi Riyals).
Responsibilities include the following:
*Prepare and plan the surveying team for the project
*Prepare the required method statements and TBM machines.
*Analyze and study the soil investigation report and decide the best method and TBM machine in accordance.
*Obtain all required permits to start excavation
*Define the scope of work for the project staff.
*Assist and finalize the selection and procurement of all required TBM equipment, tools, and all types of machinery and decide on all technical specs
*Recruit the construction team for the project.
*Supervise all work activities and provide solutions.
*Execute all construction activities as planned.
*Deal with all relevant departments of the project.
*Provide project status reports
*Hand over all completed jobs with all required documentation
Was able to demonstrate and introduce TBM machines, tunneling, and micro tunneling methods which were more accurate and productive than the other thrust boring methods the company was using at the time.
Job responsibilities included the following:
*Manage all field operations
*Communicate with clients, consultants, and the general public
*Obtain all required approvals from clients and engineers
*Control material purchases, manpower, and equipment allocations
*Provide daily work plans which include technical support
*Analyze all soil reports and select the most suitable method of tunnel and shaft construction
*Prepare required method statements and proposals
*Excavate Jacking and Receiving pits using different methods such as sheet piling, secant piling, and concrete caisson
*Supervise the carrier pipe installation inside the casing as well as the grout operation
*Review Jacking Pipe design
*Supervise dewatering and soil stabilization
Started my Miro tunneling career with Lily International which was one of the first Micro-tunneling companies in the Middle East area. The company was managed by highly qualified engineers who were pioneers in Micro tunneling work in Europe. Responsibilities included the following,
*Operate and maintain the TBM, micro tunneling machine
*Sinking reinforced concrete caisson rings by the open method in different types of ground conditions
*Supervise the pipe jacking operation which uses steel casings ranging in diameters from 900 mm to 1500 mm.
*Making the necessary maintenance for the TBMs machine.
*Recording and preparing the MTBM data and progress.
