Presently carrying the duties of Logistics Officer and responsible WFP Supply Chain Management i.e. Planning (Procurement), Shipment, Receipt & Storage and Delivery. This also includes the supervision of CO Logistics Hub/base located in Colombo which facilitate the storage and parking for other UN agencies & NGO’s. (Please see the attached brief note).

• Supervision of UNWFP warehouse base, which facilitate inbound and outbound storage, transportation for Logistics cluster users (i.e UN agencies, NGO’s and Govt as well)
• Liaising with customers, suppliers and transport companies;
• Planning, coordinating and monitoring the receipt, order assembly and dispatch of goods;
• The efficient utilisation of space and mechanical handling equipment, ensuring quality, budgetary targets and environmental objectives are met;
• Keeping stock control systems up to date and ensuring inventory accuracy;
• Created & implementing SOP’s (Standard Operating Procedures) for usage of storage, transportation, handling of food & non food and parking facilities at the WFP Log hub/base.
• Coordinating with Country and Field Office logistics staff for all the logistics activities (i.e. Warehouse issues on food & non food, and transportation of monthly needs from district to divisional depot.)
• Maintain & lead the team i.e. WFP, Govt Whse staff and Independent superintendent for month end physical count of all WFP food and non food items and make sure it is carried in time, and the records are analyzed, reconciled, cross checked with WFP’s SAP based inventory mgmt system i.e. AMD (Assets Management Database) for non food items and COMPAS (Commodity Movement Processing & Analysis System) for food items in line with IPSAS (International Public Sector Accounting Standards).
• Release PR/PO’s in SAP and Authorize GRN/SES for payment - SAP (WingsII).
• Coordinating the supply of food & NFI's with Country Office, Regional/head office
• Assisting and coordinating with Gov for their portion of food commodity Receipt, Storage and Delivery.
• Processing contracts for Storage, Transport, Stevedore and other required logistics services.
• Preparing weekly and monthly logistics report for food and non food items, and other reports required by the log chief (please find attached logistics overview report - 2011)
• Conduct training & workshop for Govt, WFP log and warehouse staff on WMS (Warehouse Management System) per international standards.
• Create presentation for annual, mid-end year project performance and for other training needs.
• Maintaining standards of health and safety, hygiene and security in the work environment, for example, ensuring that stock such as chemicals and food are stored safely;
• Organize and participate in the logistics and weekly meetings with other units i.e. procurement, finance, ICT etc
• Attending the yearly Regional Logistics Meeting - Bangkok, Thailand and other meeting and/or trainings in the Head Office - Rome, Italy.
