United Oil Projects Company (UOP) is a member of KIPCO Group, acting as its industrial investment arm in the Oil, Energy and Petrochemical Sector through its affiliation with KIPCO.
Entire responsibility of the financial reporting from the scratch of the transactions to final reporting including statutory audit and internal monthly & quarterly reporting for the Group.
* Manage department objectives and ensure completion of tasks in a timely manner and in line with financial controls and accounting procedures.
Support CEO & Operational Managers with strategic and business planning & forecasting activity and annual financial plans.
* Assess and evaluate financial performance of organization with regard to long-term / short-term operational goals, budgets and forecasts and providing meaningful and comprehensive management information.
* Conduct financial reviews at month end and to engage in strategic discussions on areas of improvement.
* Manage cash flow planning process and ensure funds availability.
* Maintain relationships and strategic alliances with vendors and business partners. Bankers, Insurance Companies and statutory organizations
* Serve as a key point of contact for external auditors; Manage preparation and support of all external audits.
* Direct and manage the activities and work of finance team by setting individual objectives, managing performance, developing and motivating staff, and providing feedback and appraisal in order to maximize subordinate and sector performance.

After serving as a Financial Analyst for 01 and half years, I was promoted as "Accounts Supervisor" in Kirby Building Systems;
Below is the list of my job description;
* Oversee daily transactions, including accounts payable/receivable, general ledger and bank reconciliations.
* Manage month-end and year-end closing
Monitor the daily performance of the accounting department.
* Organize financial data into useable information and maintain updated records
* Track the progress of financial and accounting objectives.
* Prepare monthly VAT returns for the subsidiary established in Saudi Arabia.
* Prepare Inter Company Reconciliations with all the entities under the Group.
Achievements
* Was able to reduce the unreconciled items to less than 15%.
* Took part in establishing the Controls, Accounting Policies and Procedures for the newly formed subsidiary in KSA
Prepare annual budgets and dynamic re forecasts and detailed analysis on both in partnership with other business functions including Sales, Marketing, Supply Chain, Manufacturing and HR.
Prepare monthly financial presentations and management reporting packs.
Detailed internal reports focused on providing business insights to the management. Reports include analysis and commentary on monthly trackers (Manufacturing, Inventory, sales etc.).
Weekly and monthly sales reporting, gross margin analysis and cash flow reports.
Project profitability reporting - Detailed cost, revenue and pricing analysis of big projects.
Prepare capital expenditure budget and review and secure approvals for major projects.
Prepare and analyze monthly overheads expenditures and report the reasons for variance.
KPI reporting - Analyze and prepare commentary on business KPI’s
Create and maintain financial models and dashboards.
Handling the financial planning and analyst role in the organization reporting to the Senior Finance Manager.
Familiar with SAP ERP system and Hyperion reporting tool.
Planning, conducting and finalization of audits of financial statements of various types of organizations operating in different.
Preparation / review of financial statements, auditors’ reports to the members and other reports in accordance with relevant standards and legislation.
Liaison and co-ordination with client management on all instances in respect of the audit, accounting, tax and client service matters to ensure effective accomplishment of tasks relating to assurance engagements.
Supervision and management of audit teams to ensure smooth delivery of assurance and related services of highest quality.
Analysis of company’s external and internal environment and identification of potential strategic business risks and financial statements implications together with Director and managers.

Preparation of monthly financial accounts, and providing commentaries (review) on performance of the company with detailed variance analysis and Key KPI evaluation.
Preparation of Monthly Cash forecast and responsible for Maintaining the adequate fund requirement for the operational activities
Plan for the future financing requirements and stability of the company by preparing and recommending loan applications for approved programs and efforts; regularly review debt portfolios for optimum rates.
Liaising with cross functional heads and operational employees to discuss and address issues and concerns relevant to the department / business.
Responsible for preparation of Financial Statements in accordance with Sri Lanka Financial Reporting Standards (SLFRS).
Coordinate preparation for external audits and filing of tax return and ensure proper maintenance of accounting records and documentation in compliance with statutory requirements and Company policies.
Lead and guide the finance team to achieve the finance department goals effectively in support of meeting company goals & objectives.
Familiar with Oracle ERP System
Develop audit strategies- Planning activities in audit engagements such as identifying key risks, significant classes of transactions, determining planning materiality & audit procedure.
Performed the role of lead auditor managing a team of staff members.
Liaising with key management personnel in order to gain understanding of the business and to identify key concerns of the entity being audited.
Analysis of company’s external and internal environments and identification of potential strategic business risks and financial statement implications together with partner and manager.
Review the work performed by the audit team and deciding on the extent of substantive analytical procedures and test of details to be performed.
Drafting audit and other reports in accordance with statutory rules, auditing standards and firm policy.
Preparation of financial statements including consolidations as part of the audit in prescribed formats.
