Baladi Project for Base Map Creation & Building Governmental GIS Infrastructure,
• Putting all the technical specifications for creating a comprehensive base map for the municipalities starting from the data capture issues passing through data processing and cartographic standards for map creation ending with QC/QA standards.
• Reviewing the project request for proposal before bidding and considering all the technical conditions for building the base map until linking the map data layers to the governmental GIS services and the suggested geodatabase architecture.
• Setting the standard methodology for current data features capture and database update in the future using Esri mobile GIS systems with high accuracy standards through the usage of virtual reference GPS stations.
• Working as GIS enterprise architecture in designing the whole system methodology and the main geodatabase servers’ locations in addition to the data security measures within the data recovery data center and the geodatabase links between the geodata and the governmental services taking into consideration the interoperability capabilities and the interactivity flexibity.

• Supporting and preparing the field work management plan for all land surveying projects supporting all engineering disciplines including construction, infrastructure and land information system data acquisition.
• Working with the geomatics teams in creating a data acquisition system (images interpretation + features extraction) using aerial and satellite imagery and producing a geodatabase designed according to the military oriented data scheme as well as working on the interoperability concept of merging different data formats in a single GIS system.
• Supporting in different GIS analysis adhoc requests including multi-criteria analysis, site selection, network analysis and other tasking starting from the data collection phase and ending up with the map or chart production and its QC/QA measures and standards.
• Working with the topographic map production and the image map production units by training the teams and setting the methodology for each as well as putting the cartographic standards and designing the approved templates and the symbology libraries fitting different scales for each type.

• Working as a GIS Manager supervising the integration of different GIS data coming from five general engineering consultancy companies covering the all construction development projects around the whole country.
• Merging these different types and formats of data (AutoCAD, MapInfo, …) and creating a single features geodatabase for the whole 300 projects with an oriented data scheme matching the projects activities.
• Data management is fulfilled and passed through a number of validation phases with topology checks and field visits checking in addition to saving the data in KMLER format to be added to Google earth for management criteria and analysis for setting priority within projects.
• Creating a standard symbology with coding and map template for the company and starting the map production workflow either for presentation to the government or for decision making.
• Trying to collect different types of data from external sources in the country and successfully bringing them in the adopted standard GIS format.
• Conducting some data exchange agreements with some national agencies to promote the data sharing concept as well as setting the data interoperability standards for direct usage of data and merging with already built geodatabase.
• Processing of different spatial resolution satellite imagery covering the area of interest, either to be used as base maps or for features identification and data verification.
• Creating digital elevation models for different areas around the country as well fly through movies representing the terrain in comparison to the ground water table to support representations.
• Putting the basis for spatial general and utilities data collection and using of interoperability tools for integrating the captured data with current geodatabase for standardizing the format and the coding system and using the data reviewer for data validation and topology rules set up.

• Initiating the structure for the image map production unit according to the unit tasking as well as the spatial commitment and the available human resource besides the current technical capabilities for the staff.
• Designing the appropriate production system and passing the system through the validation and verification channels while measuring the performance by benchmarking.
• Integrating all surveying techniques with imagery exploitation for the formation of a comprehensive geomatics discipline while checking the process flow as well as the utilized tools validation.
• Integrating all spatial data formats from different data collection sources (land surveying, image feature extraction, data exchange agreements, aerial photogrammetry) promoting the interoperability concept and forming a well-defined geospatial database.
• Starting the software shift from Microstation to ARCGIS 9.x and Erdas Imagine as a new production system implementation and the accompanied training packages required for the imagery staff.
• Building production system foundation components (standards) like symbology library, image maps templates for all requested production dimensions and scales.
• Building a complete raster and vector geodatabase and starting a complete process of vector data validation using topology checks, data cleaning and building the geodatabase relationships.
• Setting up the ArcGIS server and ArcSDE middle tier geodatabase architecture with Microsoft SQL server to host all the spatial vector, raster, general land surveying data and the set up behaviors (topology rules).
• Working with the private sector in utilities surveying operations (water & electricity), starting from the land surveying using cable locators with mobile GIS systems and setting up a static GPS network for connections, and data validation and management and setting up a coding system for the captured data in the enterprise geodatabase.

• Planning for all geospatial solutions supporting presales and planning for various GIS packages solving different spatial data analysis problems.
• Supporting data collection, preparation and analysis teams during GIS and data processing projects.
• Conducting defense and business geospatial solutions presentations for marketing awareness and re-orientation for company pre-sales strategies.
• Contributing in ESRI basic and advanced training courses and preparing advertisement presentations showing training courses details for marketing.
• Responsible for all land surveying planning bids (technical and financial offers).
• Putting detailed field surveying plans taking into account the relation between accuracy specs, equipments to be used, and human resource as well as surveying techniques in relation to projects timeframe.
• Presenting the current field surveying unit technical and human resource situation, together with budget planning for short and long term technical requirements.
• Preparing detailed budget demand including technicians training requirements, tools to be acquired, software and hardware plans and ready processed data if needed.
• Working within the team for promoting technical skills for prompt responding to adhoc requests using all spatial data analysis capabilities.
• Promoting collaborative learning atmosphere between company analysts together with information exchange between colleagues over company intranet.

• Production of a number of image maps through Google Earth Pro subscription for some special requirements as well as creating DEM’s and some visualization using flu through’s for some other situations.
• Managing the whole team and controlling day to day tasking as well as preparing reports and presentations showing the section regular performance, successes and the difficulties.

• Development of cartographic based products, particularly using remote sensing methods.
Geometric corrections and radiometric enhancements of satellite imagery: Quickbird, Ikonos, Spot, Landsat……
• Organization and data acquisition\evaluation: geographic database building and update by field data collection using GPS equipments (GIS infrastructure mapping)
• Tasking and supervision over all GIS and remote sensing mission requirements and planning and putting mid and long term plans for the execution.
• Integrating all data acquisition techniques including data exchange agreements to form an interoperability foundation for a comprehensive map production unit in addition to performing some GIS analysis to give prompt response for adhoc situations.
• Production of all types of maps starting from the jet navigation charts and ending with city image maps (different scales with different exploitations).
• Leading teams for field data collection using GPS RTK techniques as well as integrating the data within the used GIS system.
• Designing a city map production system to collect spatial data (buildings, road networks, utilities) for all areas of interest using mobile GIS systems and very high resolution satellite imagery feature extractions and passing the data through validation and verification phases until reaching the final map production cartographic standards and QC/QA final step.

• All land surveying techniques including: surveying + leveling + setting out + point positioning.
• Different ways for data downloading and processing using different relevant softwares.
• Using collected data to compile maps with various scales using different cartographic standards (e.g. generalization level according to required scale).
• Working within a team starting the foundation for a GIS system building as well as involving imagery processing inside the system. (private sector part time job)
