Managed the operations of SD Group for the Engineering and Management Consultancy Departments:
• Planned and Implemented Project Management processes that control project scope, project spending, risk management, job bookings, delivery checklist, etc.
• Provided continuous client management by periodically joining the team for client meetings. This allowed me to make sure clients are satisfied with the performance.
• Provided continuous on the job training to the staff.
Managed the operations of the contracting business of one of SD Group clients:
• Oversaw the project management practices.
• Planned and implemented new streamlined procedures aimed at improving projects performance.
• Led the quality management system and maintained proper implementation of Quality Assurance and Quality Control measures.
Managed and Supervised Projects Financial Performance:
• Led the monthly Project Summary Report review to assure proper project cash flow performance.
• Maintained Risk Management Model for each running project to assure proper dealing with projects risks.
Managed four projects of +600 M USD construction value. The projects were part of the Local Roads and Drainage Programme owned by Public Works Authority (PWA) of Qatar, where Atkins was the General Engineering Consultant for the Doha West area.
Team Leadership, Delivery Management, and Project Management Experience
• Led the design management of 161 ha and 385 ha roads and infrastructure projects. This involved packaging the work, managing local and offshore resources, and leading the design team to deliver.
• Achieved project deadlines and delivered within budgets.
• Reduced project costs by redefining project deliverables.
• Prepared break down structure plans of project deliverables and distributed responsibilities.
• Managed project Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and proposed strategy for KPI record improvement.
Contract Management Experience
• Responded to Contractor’s Time & Cost claims in reference to contract conditions.
• Maintained client’s interest and avoided contractual claims by agreeing three-week look ahead work programmes.
Consulting and Operations Management Experience
• Reported to the Managing Director and Operations Director my evaluation of the programme operations. This included listing the organizational and operational issues affecting the programme delivery together with recommendations for improvement.
• Assessed, recommended improvements, and developed the design processes within the waste water design department, provided team presentations, and implemented proposals for quality improvement.
Problem Solving and Client Management Experience
• Managed stakeholders’ expectations and relentlessly secured permit approvals.
• Persistently liaised with the client to manage client expectation, scope, and make sure the work delivered is as per the client requirements.
Analytical Experience
• Developed project schedules, project budgets, project monthly forecasts, and project risk management registers as well as managed project changes.
-Completed manual design of a school building followed by Wind and Seismic design through ROBOT and ETABS software
-Analysed a 3-span bridge by SAP Software
-Developed network communications with the engineering team in the structural department discussing design alternatives especially with my mentor - a senior structural engineer who used to look at my approaches as smart ones.
My training period in Pearl GTL Project provided me enough space to apply various civil engineering practices:
-Inspected steel reinforcement of slabs and walls against approved shop drawings
-Supervised concrete pouring activities
-Monitored the installation of water proofing materials
-Attended safety inductions for working on site and convinced Foremen and non-skilled workers to apply safety precautions
-Reviewed part of the project’s Bill of Quantity (BOQ)
-Monitored percentage of ‘Backfilling’ task completion and reported it to the Project Manager
-Conducted part of the required Field Surveying and controlled excavation levels against the design ones as well as contributing to the supervision of soil treatment and backfilling activities
Such training developed my reporting and communication skills as well as my confidence in holding responsibilities.
Degree Classification: Distinction in MSc. Management of Projects Rank: Top 5% Dissertation: Distinctive and Publishable dissertation titled: Property Investment Appraisal. Received Merit Scholarship to pursue this postgraduate degree after attaining the First Rank in my Civil Engineering Degree. This academic programme is accredited by APM, RICS, ICE, IHT, and IStructE. The programme is listed by JBM as being Approved Further Learning Scheme for Chartered Engineer.
