• Establishes standards and policies for fiber optics, installation, modification, quality control, testing, operating procedure, inspection, and maintenance of equipment, according to engineering principles and safety regulations.
• Supervise and coordinate daily fiber installations and troubleshoot including inside and outside areas.
• Tests newly installed equipment to ensure fulfillment of contract specifications.
• Analyze complex engineering problems and assist the contractor to rectify the issue on site.
• To lead the contractor site engineers to achieve the set out target with proper monitoring the quality of work being carried out on site
• A day by day site inspection to make sure that the actual installation is done as per the standard and specification agreed between O&M and Implementation..
• Ensure that the works are performed in conformity with all contract requirements and initiates ideas to improve the quality of works.
• Responsible to identify problem in the site and resolve it on the same day.
• Ensure that contractors are working with proper safety and standard precaution measurements
• To ensure that the approved Standard Operation Procedure is strictly followed by the working force on site.
• Prepare a daily progress and quality issue report and present it to the project team.
• Computing the loss budget of the fiber cables in each area for OSP and ISP to be followed by the contractors.
• Monitoring the testing for OTDR and LSPM testing.
• Cross-checking the Cable Distribution and Route Design based on the LLID.
• Monitoring civil works for manhole uprgadation, new duct laying and blockage clearing.
• Monitoring the buildings for QNBN Central office and including installation of the equipment’s and etc..
• Daily supervision and monitoring of subcontractors.
• Giving actual training to the subcontractor’s installation team.
• Timely coordination with the Qtel’s Site Engineers.
• Pushing the subcontractors to meet the planned progress and complying the safety measures while in worksite.
• Cross-survey on the cable manholes, cable routings, and closure installation done by the subcontractors.
• Making reports on any non-conformance committed by the subcontractors.
• Coordinate all the quality site inspections through the site QC inspectors
• Ensure all quality control documentation is complied and competed for as-built hand over through the QC turnover engineer
• Receiving daily progress reports and special case problems from subcontractors.
• Resolving civil work issues in site.
• Cross-checking the Cable Distribution and Route Design with the Drum Tables of each subcontractor.
• Quality check on the Active Parts ( IPcores, ODF & OLT Racks) from main station to mini-stations of each area.
• Quality check on the active parts ( installations to ATB and ONT from splitter to the customer)
• Submits Quality Report to the QC Manager.
• Giving correction notice with corrective measures to the subcontractors for any discrepancies found.
• Validates OTDR Test results (Optical fiber & Signal cable testing).
• Supervised cable splicing and fiber acceptance testing.
• Preparation for handing over to (Q’tel) each completed area.
• Keeping records of significant work data.
