The construction of a ±525kV HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) overhead transmission line (OHTL) between NIC South VSC and YCNT VSC is a major infrastructure project in Saudi Arabia. It involves building approximately 207 km of overhead lines and around 450 transmission towers. The project uses advanced HVDC Light® technology to transmit up to 3 GW of power efficiently over long distances with minimal losses.

The project connects the renewable energy hub in NEOM Industrial City (NIC) with the Yanbu Central Network Transmission (YCNT), supporting Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 goals by enhancing the power grid's reliability and integrating clean energy sources like solar, wind, and green hydrogen.
