As a risk manager within FNB’s divisional structure, it is required that collaborative efforts are made with FirstRand (ERM), FNB’s
Segments and Business Units (BU) structures to ensure that FNB’s obligation to the Operational Risk Management
Framework’s requirements are met.

Aspects of these requirements are met through the execution of the following areas of my responsibilities:
Policy and guidance documentation, review and update
Process mapping and review (FirstMap- business process mapping tool)
Ensuring adherence to the requirements of the Process based Risk and Control Identification and Assessment (PRCIA) Policy. This includes:
-Ensuring the appropriate risk and control identification, capture and assessment.
-Ensuring quality risk and control assessments are obtained by conducting reviews, providing guidance/support, hosting workshops and roadshows.
Improving process efficiency through developing alternate solutions/work around to existing shortcomings.
Develop control testing/monitoring plan(s) which are to be adopted across Business Unit (BU) and segment levels.
Ensure that FNB Divisional Risk Appetite values are set. This includes:
-Collating and considering the values set by each segment and their respective considerations in setting of their values.
-Compiling the FNB risk appetite document for FNB Risk committee, ExCo and ERM review and approval.
Ensuring the requirements of the Operational Risk Scenarios policy is attained, through:
-Participation in segment and BU scenario workshops and training sessions.
-Host and participate in FNB Divisional Peer Group Reviews sessions.
-Participate in FirstRand Group Peer Group Reviews sessions
-Compile Ops Risk Scenario reports for ERM consumption
Compile Risk reports (Monthly, Quarterly and Annually) for Losses, PRCIA, Risk Scenario and Risk Appetite.
Collating and submitting both outsourcing and insourcing arrangements to ERM.
Analysis of loss events and reporting monthly and quarterly losses to risk committees.
Business Line Capital Allocation - tasked at providing an alternate solution across BU levels.
Incorporation of Compliance and IT Risk within current PRCIA model.
Facilitation and coordination of the Internal Validation exercise for FNB. This includes analyzing raw data, to assist Business Units with their respective improvement plans.
SME on all risk categories and thus provide consulting services in new business decisions, projects, process and system related problems.
Use existing Data to identify trends related to organizational failures etc.
