As Training sector lead, I look after the business strategy to grow this sector. I devise the online and offline marketing strategy, revenue increase, profit maximisation, cost reduction, resourcing, developing training programs and processes. In 1 year, I have increased revenue from this sector by more than 400%.
As a BD lead for the Connections team, I look after expanding the current client base, offer new services to existing and new clients, and develop the new training sector.
Key Responsibilities
• Devising a business development strategy which included re-establishing links with clients gone off-the-radar, entering new markets, identifying other existing services that can be offered to the clients, identifying and forecasting upcoming industry trends, and establishing excellent client relationship
• Leading and growing the ‘training’ sector by identifying upcoming hot topics and offering relevant training, extensive marketing and promotion by working with the marketing manager, evaluating competitors courses and prices and setting ours competitively
• Striving to achieve long term customer satisfaction by regularly obtaining client feedback and working towards areas requiring improvement and documenting those areas for future reference
• Engaging proactively with clients to deliver new business opportunities and managing existing client relationships. Forming partnerships with companies to promote our specialist services
Utilising my project management, technical knowledge, team and client management experience in this role.
Key Responsibilities
• Supervising large multi-disciplinary projects often as part of a consortium of consultants, involving power system engineers, environment specialists, and civil engineers
• Leading preparation of large proposals, including commercial aspects, such as for large offshore wind farms. Identifying resources to deploy, writing methodology, costing the project and forming project plan
• Working in accordance with internal processes to comply with quality standards
• Undertaking technical and managing project work, reviewing technical documents to ensure consistency, accuracy and to ensure the deliverables meet client’s functional and technical requirements
• Identifying technical and commercial risks within the projects. Considering impact on health and safely, quality and environment such as performing risk assessment for team members going for site work
• Managing own time and delivering multiple projects to a high level of technical competency on time/budget, capable of acting autonomously
Successfully managed the scope and work package for over 35 studies projects. Performed technical studies and acted as a technical reviewer for over 50 projects. Led and managed internal teams, budgets, programs and all aspects of client engagement.
Key Responsibilities - Technical Role
----------------------------------------------
• Performed technical due diligence on offshore and onshore wind farms in the UK, Norway and France
• Technical advisor for the IWEA working group on Irish Grid Code Fault Ride Through requirements, and for the Engineering Recommendation P28 issue 2 working group in the UK
• Performed complex power system studies on several UK and Irish renewable projects, studies involved:
o Frequency control, load rejection, dynamic stability and power quality analysis studies (flicker, transformer inrush, voltage step change and harmonics)
• Responsible for design of a large offshore wind farm inall design stages: conceptual level, front end engineering design (FEED) and detailed design stage. Performed electrical studies, developed reactive power strategy, performed sensitivity assessment, and established functional component specifications
• Liaised directly with clients and component manufacturers to achieve a cost effective and technically feasible solution for wind farms
• Providedtechnical recommendations to clients including developersand utilities
Key Responsibilities - Project Management
------------------------------------------------------
• Led and motivated project teams of consultants (technical and senior level) by allocating work according to people’s strengths and their willingness to learn
• Interpreted client’s requirements, managed client expectation, executed project scope within the defined requirements
• Assigned targets for the project team, identified ways to reduce costs by developing processes and procedures and where possible by automation
• Negotiated budget and time with the client (where required), by highlighting the value, experience behind a certain work and the quality of deliverables in the price quoted
• Kept client and stakeholders on board through regular communication during the project
• Developed detail project plan and ensured it was followed
Performed technical power system studies for over 20 small to large scale generation and industrial projects. Well versed in various IEC and ER standards, G-Code and D-Code requirements in the UK and abroad.
Key Responsibilities
• Used specialist software such as DigSilentPowerFactory, IPSA and PSS/E for power system studies including:
o load flow, fault level, switchgear sizing, reactive power device sizing, fault-ride through, voltage control, and energy yield and losses evaluation
o Automated studies in Python and DPL where required to reduce time
• Performed compliance assessment studies when connecting renewable generation, industrial sites, battery storage sites, and gas-plants to distribution and transmission network
• Worked directly with UK’s electricity regulator Ofgem (in tender review for offshore wind farms) and with the Irish utility Eirgrid (on voltage stability issues with STATCOMs and SVCs) in their offices on secondments and gained excellent feedback
• Successfully developed an industrial scale automated software tool to enable quick design and analysis of large offshore wind farms using Python programming language.
• Automated electrical and reliability based loss assessment of large offshore wind farms in PSS/E.
■ Worked as a team member and collaborated with electrical engineers to select the electrical equipment for a new glass coating facility. Task involved selecting a configurable SIL qualified safety relay system and its extensions for in factory installation.
■ Identified an optimal location to install the SIL system after analyzing the electrical wiring inside the factory. Created cable schedules for sensors, control unit and alarm beacons.
Thesis title: Probabilistic Modelling Techniques and a Robust Design Methodology For Offshore Wind Farms [Available online] • Published 2 papers as lead author in high-impact and internationally known power systems Journals, namely Electric Power Systems Research (EPSR) and in IEEE Transactions on Power Systems. • Published 7 papers in International Conferences as lead author and presented in front of experts and attendees from industry and academia. • Developed 3 innovative solutions to solve complex problems related to modelling and design of large offshore wind farms
Graduated with 1st Class Honors degree. ■ Developed a Transient Stability program with a Graphical user Interface (GUI) from scratch during third year project using Java programming language.
