University of Leeds at University of Leeds
  • United Kingdom - Birmingham
  • My current job since May 2013

Research the corrosion behaviour in oil and gas industry.

Corrosion material engineer at SOC
  • Iraq - Basra
  • January 2010 to February 2015

Achievements
Pipeline projects linking the southern oil wells storage plants to the export port and the oil refinery plants.
➢ Construction of four oil storage tanks (capacity of 240, 000 barrel each) in the south of Basra.
● Prepared corrosion compliance reports for upper management for a team of engineers.
● Conducted site specific field tests on corrosion systems and carried out technical reports based on the findings.
● Materials selection.
● Technical Work: Soil sampling at the construction sites, ion chromatography, pipe-to-soil potential measurements, continuity and resistivity testing on pipelines & the storage tanks.

➢ Construction of oil transmission pipelines between the storage tanks and the offshore oil export platforms (length of 100km).

● Material selection process to aid in corrosion prevention in pipeline, valves and junctions.
● Identified and monitored the source of corrosion problems in the onshore part and the offshore of the pipeline.
● Chemical treatments & inhibitor injection operation to prevent any possible corrosion threat.
● Ensured the integrity of the corrosion prevention units onshore and offshore. Carried out a regular technical reports, generated field data, and conducted corrosion surveys with recommendations and submit it to the managements.
● Conducted site specific field tests on corrosion systems and materials failure.

Corrosion material engineer at Dura & Shuaiba refinery
  • Iraq - Basra
  • January 2008 to January 2010

- Dura refinery plant (Baghdad).
- Shuaiba oil refinery plant (Basra).

My responsibilities were:

● Material selection process and identifying any possible corrosion threats within the refinery sections (high temperature/acidic conditions) and pipelines and valves.
● Writing Pipeline Corrosion Failure Reports.
● Failure analysis due to corrosion.
● Plan and review the corrosion protection strategy within the refinery.
● Corrosion damage mechanisms, Corrosion studies, corrosion-control for high temperature refinery units.

Materials Engineer at Al-Sadeel construction ltd
  • Iraq - Baghdad
  • January 2004 to May 2007

My responsibilities were:

• Material selection process.
• Corrosion investigation and monitoring.
• Failure analysis and investigation in steel constructions/pipelines.
• Researched, proposed, and negotiate with suppliers (worldwide) the company requirements of materials and plants, follow the deal/order throughout the ordering process to the delivery.
 Selected and supplied 2500 steel electrical transmission poles suitable for the harsh weather conditions.
 Selected and supplied suitable Mechanical and Electrical equipment for a Water plant south of Iraq from Siemens water Tech in England.
 Selected and supplied a digital several weighbridges capacity 100 tonnes (each) from Italian company Soc.Coop.Bilanciai.
 Selected and suppled Al, Al-Mn, Al-Si and steel alloys for a major corrugated sheet construction project.
