Operations Manager at Chemonics International Inc./Water & Wastewater Sector Support Program

  • November 1998 to August 2011

• Develop an online tracker on our Intranet to list all recurrent and non-recurrent activities, including work plan tasks and deliverables, reports required, administrative actions, procurements, field trips, correspondences, etc. including the person(s) responsible, due dates, actual completion dates and remarks regarding issues encountered and successful resolutions.

In addition to being posted on the Intranet, Big Brother (as we call the tracker) I send weekly reminders to all staff, letting everyone know where we stand, as well as following up with all seniors on the work in progress, and to report via email, on a regular basis, on their weekly activities in order to facilitate the preparation of the monthly status report requested by our counterparts and our contractual quarterly progress report.
• Organize our work on a regional basis. Essentially, each Water&Wastewater Company (WWC) will receive intensive Technical Assistance (TA), consisting of on-site advisory service, Training of Trainers (TOT) and assistance in program implementation in two different areas (excluding cross-cutting activities) over a period of three month, after which there will be less intensive, but continuous follow up.
• Arrange training activities to be delivered on a regional basis. In order to ensure local buy-in and ownership, it is essential that local-level working groups are established. These working groups are not our spectators but our partners in prioritizing our activities and the implementation of programs that they selected from within their respective business plans.
• Responsible for all official technical reports, manuals, training materials and deliverables making sure they meet our client’s needs (USAID and local counterparts) submitting them on time according to the work plan matrix, as well as uploading them on the website for all parties to get use of them any time.
