Job Responsibilities:

• Review and assessment of environmental permit applications for industrial, commercial and development projects. The process involves the review of the project technical description, review of the facility P&ID, determine potential environmental impacts of the project and providing recommendation to senior management on environmental conditions.
• Review and assessment of environmental studies including Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA), Preliminary Environmental Review (PER), Construction Environmental Management Plan (CEMP) reports and analysis of monitoring and audit reports.
• Conduct environmental inspections and audits on industrial facilities and development projects to ensure compliance with environmental laws and regulations.
• Conduct facility risk assessment using computerized risk assessment tools such as “RiCHeS”.
• Coordinate and arrange for environmental awareness campaigns such as the “Eltizam Campaign” for ready mix facilities.

Treatment, control and utilization of Landfill Gas Emissions at Senior Design Project

o Objective: A group project aiming to collect the gas emitted from landfills, purify it from the hazardous and unwanted gases until pure methane is remaining.
o Mass and energy balances performed to help determine the size of the required equipment.
o Research done on the suitable equipment needed to treat the Landfill Gas.
o Design (sizing) and costing methods applied to the selected equipment.
o PFD for the process was proposed.
o Output stream is pure methane, which is collected and used to generate electricity.
o Simulation done using HYSYS.
