Respond and assume the role of on scene commander for all emergency incidents taking place in the organisation’s facilities, leading the emergency response team in emergency situations to primarily protect people, environment and property in order to fulfil the role of protecting company assets against adverse consequences.
Manage day to day activities, designate responsible persons for emergency response duty, direct all emergency operations in line with the standard operating procedures, provide support to emergency response section head and plan emergency management related drills and exercises and ensure monthly targets assigned to myself and the team are safely accomplished.
Takes sole command in the event of a fire or any type of emergency incident in order to ensure a safe, effective and controlled response, make decisions concerning the appropriate response and mitigation technique to be employed and complete administrative task related
Liaise with the organisational leadership and operations to increase the level of fire awareness in order to help prevent fires and accidents occurring in the first place.
Promote and enforce fire safety standards in public and commercial premises by acting and advising on all matters relating to the protection of life and property from fire and other risks.
Ensure that all emergency vehicles and equipment are in order and in state of readiness
Review and formulation of emergency/ contingency plans
Developed and coordinating a well-structured mentorship program for junior firefighters, aimed at developing and guide them till to the stage where they are self-sustained.

Identifying hazards, assessing risks in the workplace and review emergency plans
Apply safety principle and practice relating to hazardous substances
Coordinate and play a lead role in incident investigation and conduct fire risk assessment
Conduct in depth site inspection and compile a specified confined space rescue plan and make follow up visits to the confined space location to ensure the effectiveness of the rescue plan
Conduct plant awareness programme, give orientation and training to new employees and contractors.
Design and facilitate a training program including mock-up drills on the proper use of self-contained breathing apparatus and conduct outcomes based assessment
Perform annual performance appraisal for the employees reporting to me.
Issue initial incident notification for all incidents occurred in my division of work and initiate necessary fact finding investigations in order to identify the route cause, convey the learning points to all parties and institute preventive measures to avoid the recurrence.
Writing and actively participate in writing, consultation and review of organisational SOP’s and other set of controls.
Performs daily inspections and pump checks of the apparatus assigned to; notifies station officer of any condition requiring repair or maintenance.
Participates in firefighting duties as assigned; operates pumps, nozzles, and hydrants; utilizes fire extinguishers and other actions to suppress fire; operates hydraulic, pneumatic, manual and power

Participate in the health and safety forum board as a leading and an active board member and HSE coach, planning and preparation for the agenda, ensure the effective output and group participation of the HSE forum meeting, deliver presentations on selected topics and motivate HSE representatives to actively participate on HSE campaigns and convey the message to their respective colleagues.
Facilitate a discussion towards choosing the HSE monthly theme and monthly HSE campaign, HSE massages and the speakers of the day for HSE forum gathering.
Hand over HSE recognition vouchers to the workers who work safely and motivate them to keep up working safely and distribute Health and Safety campaign flyers and posters
Take part on HSE video shooting
Facilitate arrangements for health and safety meetings and apply the appropriate legislation to a workplace.
Lead the Zero Employee Behaviour Related Accidents (ZEBRA) process campaign, encourage and monitor other HSERQ observers and make sure that they participate in the process
Play an advisory role in Zero Employee Behaviour Related Accidents (ZEBRA) at risk behaviour barrier removal committee
