• Coordinate all construction activities and determine labor requirements required for specific tasks and supervise and adhere to all contractual activities on sites;
• Possessing a thorough knowledge of the contract, its engineering and technical specifications and any related sub-contract agreements;
• Supervise the works on designated sites, in accordance with time schedules, drawings, specifications and information provided and collected with a view to deliver trouble free jobs at the highest possible quality, on time and in budget;
• Inspect and review projects to monitor compliance with the relevant building codes and safety codes of practice;
• Record and report incidents of health/safety/security/damages and thefts immediately to the Construction Manager or Senior Supervisor;
• Investigate damage, accidents, or delays at construction sites to ensure that procedures are being carried out;
• Confer with all office staff owners, contractors and designers to discuss and resolve matters such as work procedures’, complaints and construction problems. Ensure that all information is noted and relevant staff members are notified and appropriate changes are made;
• Provide feedback related to as built drawings and remarks to improve designs, improve methods of construction and reduction in costs.
• Review tender specifications and extract structural requirements;
• Prepare design load assumptions considering structure weights, specs and applied standards;
• Cooperate with mechanical engineers to issue preliminary layout using optimized structural system and economical solutions;
Perform structural analysis and design checks;
• Check designs and structural outputs done by other colleagues or vendors;
• Optimize structure design for utmost members’ use that complies with applied codes and client specs;
• Cooperate with project engineers to implement appropriate detail solutions and structural information support for mechanical design;
• Deliver structural output documents covering analysis, design, member sizes, details and fatigue check;
• Prepare and check optimized transportation supports and lifting procedure calculations including lifting forces and erection;
• Prepare final stability calculations and balancing procedures;
• Design machine special tools and jacking stands needed for maintenance or change out parts of any existing machines;
• Evaluate and strengthen machine structures for higher capacity upgrades;
• Prepare supported detail sketches for drafts persons;
• Supervise, check and control detail drawings to line up with design concepts;
• Fabrication support for any technical query or solving fabrication issues;
• Site structural support for general problems or erection procedures;
• Use and improve company’s calculation sheets.
• Generate 3D model considering the most effective structural system;
• Issue all structural documents (Structural analysis report, load assumptions, member design, connection design and drawings);
• Assess existing structures and provide solutions for strengthening weak members;
• Coordinate with disciplines such as architectural, mechanical, electrical etc;
• Control and participate models detailing using Tekla Structures;
• Site investigation, construction supervision and project handover;
• Liaison with architects, engineers, builders, contractors, suppliers & clients.
Site:
• Manage / co-ordinate all site activities for civil, concrete structures and steel structures activities;
• Liaison with clients, consultants, designers and subcontractors;
• Supervise steel structure fabrication and erection for ~35, 000 tons between light conveyors, light buildings, heavy steel structures buildings and frames;
• Review mix designs, material approvals, soil compaction and loading tests;
• Check and approve method of statement for steel structure erection;
• On-site review drawings, modifications and re-engineering of any unsafe or necessary details;
• Design and QC of repaired work of several elements such as roads, piles, concrete and steel structures for several projects;
• QC/QA of civil and construction works such as:
o Piling works >2500 piles, and concrete works ~40, 000 m3.
o Concrete foundations, conveyor and equipment supports and buildings.
o Sewer systems (Surveying, lining, checking pipe lines and hydro test).
o Internal road works (roads survey, road lining base and sub-base layers).
o Cladding works and perform leakage test for Urea Bulk Store roof ~10, 000 m2.
• Review Q.S. for finished work quantities and sign off subcontractors invoices;
• Issue as-built drawings;
• Rectification of punch points and handover buildings;
Management & Planning:
• Manage and supervise site activities for civil & steel structures within planned schedule;
• Monitor, audit and update schedule using P6;
• Plan schedules and cost control of new projects;
• Prepare regular progress reports to higher management team and client;
• Pre-order budgeting of project’s engineering man-hours.
Design:
• Managing and supervising junior engineering team and drafters;
• Prepare design load assumptions considering structure weights, specs and applied standards, including some special cases such as blast load;
• Cooperate with mechanical engineers and architects to issue preliminary layout using optimized structural system and economical solutions;
• Prepare 3D model and structure analysis;
• Design/check civil, concrete structures and steel structures (plant concrete buildings and steel structure buildings);
• Review steel structure design for members and connections done by Germany or subcontractors;
• Supervise, check, control and manage steel structure shop drawings;
• Support other disciplines (Mechanical, Piping, Equipment, Electrical...etc) to solve steel structure problems and modify existing structures;
• Design concrete and steel pipe racks and conveyors;
• Design/check concrete and steel structures (ie plant service concrete buildings, steel structure buildings and frames);
• Liaison with clients, consultants, designers and subcontractors;
• Pre-order budgeting of project’s engineering man-hours.
• Structural modelling and design;
• Supervise / participate detailing drawings using x-steel (tekla structures);
• Site inspection and technical support for any required modifications or upgrading.
• Participate in design and shop drawings for Steel Structure repairing of New South Detour Bridge, San Francisco USA;
• Design an elevated steel water tank of 1000 m3 according to API, Qatar;
• Reviewing design and drawings of American University buildings in Cairo.
