Almost thirty three years spent working in Saudi Aramco Mobil Refinery Co. Ltd. (Samref), have exposed me to a variety of maintenance and project management systems with their unique characteristics. I have extensive experience in Project Engineering, Refinery Maintenance, Turnaround Planning & Execution, Refinery Revamp and Major Project Execution and Field Construction.


August 2008 to February 2015
Clean Fuel Project Construction Manager
Manage the construction of a mega project to upgrade the refinery and build new units to produce a higher specifications gasoline and diesel to meet the new requirements in the world markets. The Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) had been contracted to WorelyParsons, USA.

May 2006 to July 2008
Sea Water Scrubber Project Manager
Developed and executed a major environmental project (Sea Water Scrubber for the FCC Unit Flue Gas Effluent). The Engineering, Procurement and Construction Planning (EPCP) had been contracted to Fluor Daniel, Netherlands.

May 2003 to May 2006
Major Projects & Turnaround Manager
Development and executed Major Revamp Capital Projects and Refinery Turnaround Maintenance work. The projects did include installation of new units & systems, and major modifications to existing process units. The scope of work included all disciplines civil, mechanical, instruments and electrical. The Engineering, Procurement and Construction Planning (EPCP) had been contracted to Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, UK.

Maintenance Planning, Projects & Coordination Supt
Established a new group to implement systems to manage the maintenance activities aiming for maximum manpower utilization and best reliable performance by all maintenance disciplines.

Refinery Turnaround Manager
Managed a total refinery turnaround and major projects execution.
The Engineering, Procurement and Construction Planning (EPCP) for the major projects had been contracted to Foster Wheeler Energy Limited, UK.

Maintenance Mechanical Superintendent
Managed and directed the Maintenance Mechanical Section. Departmental objectives were to maintain the highest reliability of the refinery equipment and the port shipping facilities to prevent unscheduled shut-downs and minimize downtime during repairs.

January 1997 to May 1998
FCC Complex Turnaround Supt.
Managed the field execution of all projects and maintenance works in the FCC complex. The work scope included major replacement & repairs to the FCC Regenerator internals & nozzles, upgrading the control system for the FCC Main Air Blower, and other projects & maintenance works.

August 1995 to December 1996
Maintenance Mechanical Superintendent
Managed and directed the Maintenance Mechanical Section. Departmental objectives were to maintain the highest reliability of the refinery equipment and the port shipping facilities to prevent unscheduled shut-downs and minimize downtime during repairs. Also develop a competent Saudi workforce able to perform the most complex tasks.

Refinery Turnaround Superintendent
managed the field construction of pre-turnaround projects, develop work systems and site facilities, and streamline contractors’ orientation and site establishment. Coordinate common site services to ensure minimum interface problems between contractors.
