Working as a Data Center Engineering Operations (DCEO) Facility Manager and looking after power infrastructure of a newly built Tier-3 data center. Duties include:-
- Overseeing the facility operations in a data center
- Ensure 24/7 power availability- to Data Center IT Equipement
- Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP) for preventive maintenance (PM) and corrective maintenance (CM) programs.
- Provide hands-on technical support where required i.e, installation and commissioning of new equipment, decommissioning of equipment, replacement of faulty equipment, internal audits etc
- Operate and manage both routine and emergency services on a variety of critical systems including transformers, switchgear, generators, UPS Systems, AVR, Power Distribution Equipment, DX Cooling Units, Cameras, Biometric Acess Control System etc
Besides above-mentioned duties, I am working as manager Data Center DR Site construction. The work includes data center design, shifting of data center equipment to this new location from an old data center which includes all facility and power equipment.
Managing consultant, vendors and sub-contractors for the construction of Tier 3 Data Center from the ground up
- Monitor the project execution as per scope from preconstruction, construction, and closeout
- Inspect all onsite project work to ensure work quality
- Manage design changes for field implementation
- Establish, coordinate, and conduct all necessary project meetings and ensure implementation of corrective actions post meetings
- Monitor and ensure work quality of all equipment installation including HT Feeder availability from suplier company, HT power cable laying till client end, installation and commissioning of PEL transformers, Perkin generators; Powerwell switch gears including PFI Panels, Generator Synchronization panels, Automatic transfer switches and general DBs, AVR, and all equipment within data center including IT Racks, UPS, DX Cooling units, Cameras, Access control system, FSS, VESDA and comfort cooling units.
- Ensure execution of ICT Infrastructure in a 5 storey tower including security cameras, biometric, speaker announcement system and WIFI system for internet
- Manage inventory for this new data center including receipt of all equipment from the contractor, equipment inspection, inventory management, and issuance the same for installation
- Track the project commissioning and witnessing inclusive of key milestones; log and record all witnessing events (issues & otherwise) and report effectively
- Witness the integrated system testing and ensure it is compliant with the consultant's design, relevant standards and client expectations
- Issue a Commissioning Final Report (CFR) summarising the project, outstanding items (if any), and provide assurance for final sign-off
The project has successfully been completed and is functional now
Ensure stable power to data center and all the motorway toll plazas across Pakistan. Carried out audit of data center power infrastructure, upgraded power to ensure stable and uninterrupted power to data Center. Carried out audit of power infrastructure of all the motorway toll plazas across Pakistan and suggested improvements. Got hybrid solar systems installed on motorway M1, motorway M9 and Lahore Sialkot motorway. Hybrid solar solutions suggested for remaining motorway toll plazas. Got earthing done for electrical panels and IT on different locations.
Oversee operations of multiple data centers
Managing power, cooling, FSS, VESDA and environmental control of multiple data centers
Ensure maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment including FSS, VESDA, transformers, gensets, switchgears, AVRs and distribution panels installed in multiple data centers
Monitoring of APC equipment on Infrastructure Central
Power up-gradation of Data Centres
Manage and co-ordinate the planning and expansion projects with vendors
Ensure delivery of Service Level Agreement (SLA) for data centers
Meeting with Vendors for new Solutions to modernize Data Centre
Monitoring and controlling the maintenance of electrical, mechanical and FSS equipment installed in multiple data centers through third-party vendors
Modifications in existing electrical design if required as per standard/ Data Center up gradation
Conduct Audit and Evaluation of electrical systems and lead improvements
Analyze the requirement of new data centers/ ICT Server Rooms and recommend equipment including UPS, Cooling System, Generators, FSS, VSS and IT Racks
Preparation of RFPs, RFQs and BOQs for annual procurement for O&M and up-gradation of multiple Data Centres
Preparation of Contracts and SLAs with Vendors
Follow up on contractual requirement fulfillment
Follow up delivery of equipment to the warehouse from vendors
Follow up with operation team in order to fulfill KPI and SLA
Make schedule for projects on MS Project and producing reports for monitoring
Working closely with vendors to finalize SLA/Purchase Contracts/ KPI reports
Handling new projects implementation and existing operational issues
Prepare monthly performance reports for senior management
Project planning with the input and assistance of team members
Determine and document the requirement the client’s requirements
Planning and scheduling preventive and corrective maintenance of electrical equipment installed with multiple clients to ensure efficient use of manpower to each facility
Supervision of technical teams
Budgetary estimation of new projects, prepare and negotiate quotations with clients
Payment processing
Contract management
Coordination with multiple clients and resolve issues through the technical team
