Project :
• Affordable Conservation for Affordable Housing Scheme
A loan and incentive scheme by the Penang State Government and the Federal Government for landlords whose pre-war premises were affected by the repeal of the Rent Control Act (2000).

Responsibilites :
• To report directly to the Penang’s Chief Minister about the progress of the scheme. The scheme was incepted after the repeal of the Rent Control Act, to encourage the landlords into conserving, restoring and repairing as well as upgrading their pre-war properties in accordance to the City of Penang’s Conservation Guidelines through non-collateral loan with low interest rates with the conditions to maintain the existing tenants within their properties. This job involved dealing with different landlords of different backgrounds with different premises conditions, participating banks, state and local government authorities as well as the local NGOs.

Project :
• Research Officer
Preparation of dossier for the Inscription of Historic Centres of Melaka and Penang into UNESCO’s World Heritage List.

Responsibilites :
• The consultancy was appointed by both the Penang and Malacca State Government for for taking the task to prepare official dossier for the Inscription of Historic Centres of Melaka and Penang into UNESCO’s World Heritage List. A team was set-up that comprised experts in various relevant fields from the local Universities, ie. Historians, Planners, Architects and would meet in a weekly meeting and discussion to preparing the dossier. The task also involved dealing with both Malacca and Penang’s State Government’s departments and agencies, the Ministry of Arts, Cultural and Tourism of the Malaysian Federal Government, NGOs, experts in local cultures and representatives of the multi-cultural local communities in organising talks and discussions, collecting data and gathering information and coordinating the preparation of the Local Management Plan for both cities.
