Taking up this role gave me a sneak peek into the consumers' mind and the retail industry here. Working during the high-pressured holiday season required a great degree of multitasking across departments. My role involved not just ensuring that the customers' needs are met through smooth sales process and transactions, but also enriching their experience in-store through memorable and meaningful interaction. Moreover, I got to meet people from different cultures and connect with them on a topic that I could resonate with the most, books! Learning the technical aspects such as working at the cash counter and on inventory, while initially daunting, soon became the part of the job that I enjoyed the most.
