Safety & Equipment Training Officer Gulftainer Khorfakkan Container Terminal (2012-Present)

To make competent all the terminal equipment operators, work safe and create a safe workplace for all personal and assisting with the implementation of OHS&E Management System within the port and ensuring compliance. Ensure sufficient qualified and safe equipment operators are available to the Operations Department at all times thereby contributing to smooth flow of container terminal operations.HSE forms and record keeping, equipment inspection care and maintenance procedure.

Job Responsibilities:

 Providing theory and practical training in port equipments such as STS, RTG, Reach Stacker, ECH etc
 Conduct routine inspections related to Health and safety therefore ensuring operational area is compliant in all matters relating to safety.
 Record and maintain a database of all inspections conducted to follow up and identify corrective actions.
 Assist the Manager Safety in investigating accidents or incidents to identify conditions that cause accidents and seek actions to prevent the same
 Ascertain toolbox talks are carried out with members of other departments therefore ensuring all departments are fully aware of all safety procedures
 Conduct regular trainings to new and current employees in Health, Safety and Environmental systems and procedures and Providing assistance
 Initiate/conduct specific trainings in first aid, rescue and fire prevention, protection and response.
 Weekly Equipment inspection, safety meeting, tool box talk, refresher training, subcontractors meeting, welfare facilities, First Aid Box inspection, Labor camp inspection and ensure health and hygiene of employees
 Giving knowledge pre-operational check, theory, practical and safety measures & provides theory classes for equipment operation using suitable presentation
 Review method statements identify hazards and assess risks on sites, Terminal, yard, offices and accommodation
 Inspecting the workplaces to ensure that the workers are being provided a risk-free and hygienic atmosphere.
 Prepare and submit the monthly HSE inspection reports to the Terminal Safety Engineer/safety Superintendent.
 Ensure proper usage, maintenance and storage of all HSE related documents, equipment’s, accessories and signage.
 Provide overall safety advice and instructions to all personnel including contractors.
 Co ordinate with engineering department to make referrals and equipment inspection
 Suitable training program developer for equipment operators, supervisors, hatch man, tallyman, lashers etc
 Conducting weekly safety meeting with project execution staff to promote and maintain safe system of work on the terminal
 Providing first aid treatment for minor injuries and recommending for further medical attention if any required.
 Maintain and update HSE Notice Board.
 To developing and implementing signs, posters, barriers and other material to warn potential hazard.

Equipment operator & Trainer at gulftainer

• Operates the equipment assigned to him in a safe manner to ensure all work procedures and safety codes are followed to prevent injury to all personnel and damage to equipment
• Perform First Line Maintenance when the need arises, Conducts regularly pre and post inspections of the STS Crane and make sure that all abnormalities are reported to the CY Supervisor immediately
• Maintain continuous operation by using “hot seat” changeover at shift changeover times and for operator rest break changeover

• Take all safety measures required while working under poor visibility and coordinate with the tally clerks and vessel supervisor to resolve issues related to visibility.

Operated Liebherr and Mitsubishi STS Cranes (Twin lift Spreader, Tandem Spreader, Hook Beam Spreader, Chain slings, Lifting Belts, Automated Bromma O/H Frames, Manual O/H Frames.etc)
