• Management of transport & warehouse operations in the leaf function.
• Review and implement warehouse optimisation policy and strategy are per the company warehouse global standards.
• Implement robust inventory management systems for stock accuracy and movement.
• Manage the inbound and out transport within the leaf function and make sure that security of goods in transit is in place.
• Management of the third-party Logistics service provider as per the contract.
• Review supplier contracts where necessary to manage costs and make sure they are operating within budget.
• Plan and Effectively manage the Fixed & Semi -Variable Budget for the logistics operations.
• Budgeting and reviewing of logistics operations to monitor actual performance against the budget.
• Manage storage and a robust stock Inventory management system for stock purposes.
• Foster and embed a high-performance culture in the Leaf Logistics function and promote the BAT core values.
• Develop an Integrated team geared to delivering efficient and effective logistics targets.
• To effectively manage the control environment in the Logistics to minimise the risk of loss (Business risk/Audit).
• Project Management within leaf operation for process optimisation
• To plan and ensure availability of optimum level stocks in the warehouse for processing throughout the season.
• Plan and implement the leaf stocks movement between the leaf centres and the green leaf threshing plant.
• To develop and steer the team to professionally and effectively drive the delivery of company goals.
• To maintain the relationship between both internal and external stakeholders.
• Plan and control the expenditure of the logistics budget
• Monitor and maintain inventory stock accuracy as per the company stock management policy.
• To ensure a sound control environment with adherence to policies, procedures and governance processes in the BAT framework.
• Manage the logistics suppliers in the delivery of quality service within the negotiated and signed off contract rates.
• Monitor stock and truck movement and make sure that the management information systems are updated in real time to guarantee the security of stocks in transit and information accuracy.
• Manage stock levels for the factory spares and maintain the minimum reorder level for working capital management.
• Manage and monitor the movement of the leaf input stocks from suppliers to the BAT warehouses and subsequent distribution to the farmers for leaf growing.
• Co-ordinate and deliver on a fleet management programme for a focused and consistent service delivery within the BAT premises, on agreed service portfolio.
• To conserve the quality of tobacco leaves being transported through ensuring the availability of a highly maintained fleet for transport
• Provide for fleet budgetary and performance reviews with input into monthly YTD reports.
• Formulate, implement and co-ordinate strategies with service providers with the objective of a vehicle service and maintenance regime.
• To ensure optimal fleet availability, minimal vehicle downtime and monitor repeat jobs through a Key Performance Indicator.
• To ensure compliance with BAT health and safety procedures and regulations
• To provide qualitative feedback on vehicle usage on monthly, quarterly and exceptional cases to assist users and for functional top level reporting and decision making while identifying potential areas for improvement.
• Attend to showroom customers, offer technical details of paint, give quotation and subsequently follow up (through phone calls if so desired) and finalise the deal.
• Ensure first moving items are in stock at all times and liaise with the factory and finished goods stores for timely deliveries.
• Review of sales targets and achievement made regularly.
• Liaise with the field sales staff, main stores and arrange delivery of paints on committed dates to the entire satisfaction of the customer and to guide customers on application procedure by offering technical data sheets etc.
• Keep up to date with information on the market, competition activities and advise management accordingly.
• Handle customer complaints with top priority.
• Create customer price quotations and raise sales invoices for all both the work in customer and distributors.
