In my current role as an Assurance Senior Manager at PwC Dubai I am responsible for the following:
Managing a portfolio of 13 listed and unlisted clients with fees of USD 1m from various industry segments, such as Banking, Insurance, Renewable Energy, Private Equity.
Managing all aspects of an engagement, from fee negotiations to service delivery and liaising with internal stakeholders (Firm leadership) and external stakeholders (Executive management and Board Audit Committees)
Appraising clients on current industry trends and identifying value addition opportunities for both the client as well as the firm.
Appraising Partners and clients on complex accounting and auditing issues together with proposed solutions thereof.
Identifying and implementing opportunities for value adds, such as use of digital technologies in the automation of processes through Alteryx and enhanced data visualizations through the use of Power BI
Internal controls over financial reporting (SOX 404) validations
Acting as a knowledge hub for clients on technical accounting matters, including but not limited to accounting for bespoke transactions and new accounting standards such as IFRS 9, 15 and 16.
Supervising a team of 5-10 associates / seniors across multiple jobs
Coaching and developing Senior and Junior associates for promotion
Evaluating the performance of associates and participating in performance moderation meetings
Upholding the firm’s quality control standards through proper use of Risk and Quality methodologies.
reporting to a Senior Manager and Partner I am currently responsible for the following:
* End to End engagement and project management, planning, execution and completion including managing on time
delivery of key items to both internal and external stake holders (e.g. Partners, Quality Review Partners, SEC reviewers,
Senior client executives).
* Budget development and monitoring including identifying opportunities for additional billings.
* Audit of the Company’s Reinsurance revenue stream including but not limited to recognition of the earned but not
reported “EBNR” revenue.
* Audit of the Company’s investment portfolio, including the involvement of valuation specialists, with particular focus on
Level 3 investments.
* Review and evaluation of the design and operating effectiveness of the Company’s Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) 404 controls and
communication of the results thereof to the Audit Committee.
* US GAAP Stand-alone audits of subsidiary entities and statutory audits in compliance with the rules and regulations of the
National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) and New Jersey Department of Banking and Regulation
(NJDOBI)
* Coaching review and supervision of junior team members including appropriate level of delegation for personnel
development.
Developing overall engagement plans; identifying key risks and developing procedures to address them
effectively; Developing and tracking budgets and monitoring profitability of the engagement, including
corrective measures;
- Appraising Partners and Senior Managers of critical issues requiring escalation;
- Preparation and review of communications to the Audit Committee and Internal Audit function;
- Developing the knowledge of junior team members through on the job coaching and sharing best practices;
- Consultation on significant matters with various professionals such as Risk Management Experts, SEC
advisors, lawyers, tax advisors, actuaries and IT experts;
- Compliance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), US GAAP, local corporate laws and
directives of regulatory authorities;
- Managing interpersonal relations and building the morale of the team;
- Acting as a “Knowledge Provider” to the team for resolution of complex issues requiring technical research/
special consideration;
- Identifying value addition avenues (additional billings) and recommending solutions for garnering benefits;
- Ensuring timely completion and submission of key deliverables to the client within stringent deadlines and
- Ensuring timely and accurate completion of engagement database, throughout all stages of audit - Planning,
Execution and Completion.
Responsible for end to end audit of Insurance companies and Funds
Specializing in the Insurance clients of the firm, my key responsibilities, include:
