The role that I played as Junior Project Manager for Proman was to work closely with the development manager, the professional team, main contractor and sub-contractors, this dedication and hard work of all the role players has set a new bench mark in the Sun International Group for the quality and exclusivity of their new flagship hotel; The Maslow.

Controlling, monitoring and reporting on project progress and risks of the construction of a villa on the island of Ithaca in the Ionian Sea.

Managing the feasibility and strategy with regard to importing material and contractors externally from the island, whilst balancing the equilibrium by creating local employment and contributing to the sustainability of the island. This was highlighted by the difficult financial and political external factors crippling the economy.
Establishing the project budget and project program.
Coordinating legal and other regulatory consents with the mayor of the island with regard to the expansion of the public road.
Managing the preparation of design and construction schedules.

Liaison between the Landlord and the rental collection agent, operating on the landlord's behalf. Accepting rent, responding to and addressing maintenance issues, and providing a buffer for those landlords desiring to distance themselves from their tenant constituency. Renovations of buildings, as well as implementation of energy saving techniques, in order to reduce monthly expenses.
Managing the accounts and finances of residential and retail real estate properties, participating in or initiating with attorney's litigation with tenants, contractors and insurance agencies.

From the client's original brief, I would assist in presenting a concept and budget proposal based on the project. Selecting tenders, conducting site meetings and negotiating with contractors on their time and budget needs. As part of the project management team I would appoint contractors, compile budgets for the client, using Microsoft excel, and Computer Aid Design Software.
During my contract work at Base One Projects I successfully completed the R 9 million budgets and project managed the finishes on an office block in Melrose Arch, within 6 months start to finish.

Whilst working at IBP on a range of projects, including apartments, office blocks and many warehouses in the Gauteng region, I conducted feasibility studies, quantity surveying, final account measurement, on site measurement, construction project management and cost engineering. From construction drawings I would measure quantities, and produce a bill of quantities.

Working as a construction manager, I would appoint contractors, lease with the site foremen and conduct site meetings of a retirement complex with 80 homes and a club house. As well as the transformation of the inner city Princess Hospital to a 7 story apartment block. Much use of Microsoft Project was used to access the changing strategies to finish this large project on time.
