Managing, testing and documenting various components of the new trading system application.
Integral part of the production team that manages the applications and servers for the trading system - the core of the DFM. Work includes, and is not limited to, performance monitoring, new release deployment and log analysis. Over the 3 year period, the project included numerous meetings with consultants and engineers from HP, IBM, NASDAQ OMX and NASDAQ Dubai for technical related queries and details regarding setting up the system architecture for the new servers. Configuration and tweaking of different parameters on both the software and hardware side were necessary during the testing phase of the project for the 2000+ test cases that covered all possible scenarios of the trading environment. Bugs and business related queries are documented and forwarded on to the respective teams for study and feedback.
Major projects include NASDAQ Dubai consolidation and DFM disaster recovery site setup.
Installation /Configuration of Operating Systems and services for the new trading system application.
Our team received training on the separate Windows 2003 servers for configuration and administration of the Rapid Deployment Pack, Storage Area Network, Enterprise Virtual Array data storage systems and the HP MSL tape library for data backup and recovery. This also includes the actual trading system software components that run on SUSE Linux Enterprise Server 10. Test environments also use virtualization technology (IBM’s Virtual Input-Output Server).
Shell Scripting knowledge for automating test cases on the servers.
Responsible for the administration and the management of other key production servers.
I am in charge of the administration and the management of the software and the servers (Windows Server 2003 and Red Hat Enterprise 4). Our team also manages the 40+ HP and IBM servers that are part of the new trading system.

Installation and configuration of Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) telephone systems.
Using Cisco and other phones systems, this involved special IP telephony cards for both Analog and ISDN circuits to be installed and configured on the server-end, along with the installation and configuration of the appropriate IP software to handle the system. This also involved wiring and crimping knowledge of RJ-11 and RJ-45 cables, patch panels and switches.
