In January 2017 I was hired by KAUST throw ERAM (Manpower company) as SMP to work with MACC in KAUST Maintenance I am holding approximately the same position as before in Saudi Oger ltd with more responsibilities in HVAC service. I am working as MCC, cold rooms, KLE and fume hood supervisor, in addition I am also the PLC and control specialist for HVAC, Hydraulics and electrical services.
In addition to the responsibility I was holding in Saudi Oger LTD (since July 2015) I am responsible now of:
- Leading the preventive maintenance of walk in cold room’s team for scheduled activities as monthly, quarterly and annually. To keep it ready for researchers daily activity.
- Leading the reactive maintenance team to solve all incidents and problems in the walk in cold rooms.
- Leading KLE reactive maintenance team for all equipment’s inside campus buildings (drinking fountain chillers, kitchen hood, scrubber, somat waste treatment system, refrigerators, freezers, coffee machines, hot water boilers, ice making machines, dish washers and micro waves.)
- Leading Fume Hood preventive and reactive maintenance team to insure that all fume hoods inside KAUST labs are fully functioning and ready for researcher’s experiments.

I am holding a position as Motor Control Center (MCC) maintenance supervisor engineer in HVAC systems installed in King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), also as PLC and Control Engineer for kitchen equipment’s, cold rooms and some control systems for Hydraulics services, inside KAUST. More details about my position is listed below:
MCC responsibility:
- Leading the preventive maintenance team scheduled as monthly, quarterly and annually. Our team is responsible to keep all AHU, FCU and ACU main and backup one’s fully running or ready to run in case of emergency.
- Leading the reactive maintenance team to finish all tasks tickets we have as soon as possible.
- Program troubleshoot and repair VFD’s (General Electric AF-300, AF-600, Grundfoss, Siemens Micromaster, FUJI Eco and MEGA series, Altivar, Danfoss, Vacon, ABB, Emerson and YASKAWA).
- Program troubleshoot and repair MCC panels Circuit Breakers.
- Maintain All electrical components of the MCC panel ( Circuit breakers, contactors, filters, relays, timers, phase monitor, over load protection)
- Check and Troubleshoot AHUs, FCUs and ACUs motors and chilled water pumps using meager test to confirm that they are in a good conditions otherwise to change them or rewind them.
- Finding the best substitution for the absolute materials of MCC panels and HVAC electrical materials to ensure the same materials performance, quality, wiring installation and dimension.
PLC and Control responsibility:
- Check and modify DDU PLC control system to the desired sequence of operation.
- To calibrate and rectify Dwyer flow and pressure controllers and sensors for AHUs.
- To calibrate and rectify Air Monitor flow and pressure controllers and sensors for AHUs.
- To calibrate and rectify Viasala temperature, humidity and CO2 controllers and sensors for AHUs.
- To calibrate and rectify Siemens temperature, humidity and CO2 controllers and sensors for AHUs.
- To calibrate and rectify CHEMTROL system (PC 3000) which is responsible to add chemical solutions for the fountains water tank to keep water clean.
- To calibrate and rectify REDOX TRANSMITTER system of ozone generator for the open area fountains which is responsible to control the ozone generator by releasing O3 to keep water clean and reduce the usage of chlorine.
- To calibrate and rectify water flow meters for domestic, RO and Hot water. They are using two types of meters one with turbine sensor and other using ultrasonic sensors. My job is to use a portable ultrasonic meter to check if the installed meters are giving correct readings compared to its display and on BMS and to reconfigure or change the sensor if needed. Flow meters I already worked with are Onicon flow meter systems: system-10 and D-1200 both uses F types of single and double turbine sensors, George fisher flow meter on RO system, Siemens sitrans F flow meters we are using different types based on the usage purpose and pipes sizes, geryline pt500 and valcom UPF02.
- Check, rectify and modify RO PLC control system to the desired sequence of operation.
- Check, rectify and modify Air Compressor and Air Dryer PLC control system to the desired sequence of operation.
- Check, rectify and modify Vacuum system PLC control system to the desired sequence of operation.
- Check, rectify modify and calibrate cold and environmental rooms control system to get the best result with power saving.
- Check, rectify and modify cold room PLC and HMI control system to the desired sequence of operation.
- Troubleshoot and rectify Kitchen Hood control system to keep its good performance.
- Troubleshoot and rectify Weather station to keep the reading in BMS correct.
- Support BMS team in case of emergency or upon their request in alerton BMS control ( envision, and Microsoft Visio software’s, Bacnet, MSTP, Modbus and SNMP communication protocols)
