I work as a permanent Consultant in a team with four other consultant colleagues in this busy District General Hospital where we provide a one in five On-call cover for general orthopaedic extremity trauma. My elective Orthopaedic practice includes lower limb arthroplasty along with Computer navigated TKR, arthroscopy, some forefoot and upper limb surgeries. My job plan includes Outpatient clinics here and in Keith community hospital and inpatient care at Dr Gray’s hospital. This is a Teaching Hospital affiliated with the University of Aberdeen. I have responsibility as the Educational Supervisor for the FY2 working in Orthopaedics. Along with this we have an ST1 in Orthopaedics, a speciality doctor, an FY1 and visiting final year Medical students which means there is thorough involvement with their supervision and under & post grad education. I engage in the day to day running and management of the Orthopaedic Unit and actively take part in the Hospital and departmental Audit and Morbidity & Mortality activity. I lead the daily weekday multidisciplinary X-ray meetings when on call.
