Presently working as Shift Manager (Operation) in GDF SUEZ Hubco, 1292 MW Thermal Power Plant comprise of 04 units of 323 MW each.
Authorized safety controller of permit system (Nisoft based) and IOSH certified.
Each unit consists of boiler manufactured by Ishikawajima Harima Heavy Industries (IHI) Japan, Water tube Single Drum Reheat type, capacity 1030 tons/hr, Pressure 170 kg/cm2, Temperature 540 ºC, forced air draught and natural water circulation.
Desalination Plant: Three trains of multi effect, reheat plus evaporation type with two heat rejection condensers. Evaporative type Desalination train (3*50 meter cube/hr) to decrease sea water conductivity from 6000 µS/cm to 2 µS/cm.
Demineralization Plant: Mixed bed, Regenerative type.
Hydrogen Plant: Hydrogen Production by Electrolysis for generating 99.9995 % pure Hydrogen.
Electro Chlorination Plant: Hypo Plant for generating of 1480 mg/l concentration and at the rate of 170 kg/hr of Chlorine.
Auxiliary Boiler: Natural Circulation Boiler for generating steam of 200 ºC and 18 bar @ 20 tons/hr.
Re-boiler: Kettle, Reheat type for generating steam of 170 ºC, 07 Bar @ 20 tons/hr for controlling and ensuring the viscosity of RFO.
Waste Water Treatment Plant: for processing of plant Boiler GAH acidic wash out/chemical effluents and ensuring their pH in the range of 6 to 9, while TDS ≤ 2500 before discharging into the sea.
560 MW, Combine Cycle Power Plant consisting of 03 GE Frame 9E GTs with Mark-VIe control & DLN 1.0 machines, 03 HRSGs, 01 ST with Emerson DCS control, NG Booster Station (2 bar to 28 bar), RO plant (135 m3/hr.), Water Treatment Plant, Nitrogen Generating Station, Hydrogen Generating Station, Liquid Waste Recovery Plant etc.
In this capacity, worked initially in the commissioning activities of plant and additionally involved in the preparation of operation related documents like SOPs, EOPs, equipment changeovers, systems check list, area log sheets etc.
During plant commissioning involved in equipment functional tests and plant performance tests like reliability run tests for open cycle and close cycle as well.
Involved in preparation and rectification of plant punch list items and training of newly appointed staff and team building activities.
Passed the examination of Senior Authorized Person and HV (220 kV) switching Authorization for PTW (Permit To Work) system based on software SAP environment.
After plant completion, worked for a year in operation shift as shift in-charge and presently working as operation lead engineer for the coordination among divisions for day to day operation and plant/machine outage activities of preventive and corrective maintenance in order to ensure continuous and reliable power supply to Karachi city.
Assisted GM (operation) in different matters like event investigations, plant and operation division administrative and technical issues, report writings, plant chemistry and continuous efforts to make plant as a role model.
Worked as Operation Coordinator for about 4 years in Karachi Nuclear Power Plant (KANUPP). At this position, worked as an advisor to operation shifts during plant operation and shutdown. This position also demanded the coordination of Operation Division with the Production and Engineering Support Divisions during Plant operation and shutdown states and monitoring of all Work Permits or Work Authorizations with reference to different plant states.
Supervised and monitored all important tests.
Been a part of Ageing Management Program, Industrial Safety and a member of Root Cause Analysis (RCA) & Apparent Cause Analysis (ACA) team, representing Operation Division.
Prepared all the revised procedures, commissioning procedures, isolation procedures for major activities and Plant Outage Reports.
Responsible for the preparation and revision of Call up Cards and Station Instructions.
Responsible for the implementation of corrective actions generated through Corrective Action Program (CAP) and RCA/ACA.
Also assigned to deliver the different lectures related to Plant Operating Polices, Plant Systems, and Safety Culture etc. at Training Center.
Established and run an effective training program based on internal and international Operating Experience Feedback (OEF) at Training Center.
Training coordinator of different groups, taken out of shifts for special / licensing training.
Worked as Licensed Shift Incharge in KANUPP, authorized by Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA), for 4 years and carried out the duties as outlined in KANUPP Operating Policies and Principles dossier, Station Instructions, Quality Assurance, Chemistry Control, Industrial Safety and Operating Manuals.
Supervised safe operation of safety and safety related systems of primary and secondary loops.
Ample experience of supervising the startup and shutdown activities i.e. from cold state to synchronization during startup and back to cold state from synchronization in case of forced or planned shutdown.
Supervised different auxiliary plants like Nuclear Desalination Plant based on MED Technique (400, 000 USG per day), RO Plant (100, 000 IG per day) and De-mineralized Water Treatment Plant. The steam for Desalination plant is derived from the feed heating cycle of steam turbine affairs of these plants as well.
